Lauri “Lateski” Varonen Ships $5,200 SCOOP PLO Main for $192K

Lauri Varonen
Lauri Varonen

Lauri “Lateski” Varonen claimed the most prestigious Pot-Limit Omaha title of the series, taking down the SCOOP 85-H: $5,200 PLO [6-Max, PLO Main Event] for $192,074 and their first-ever SCOOP title.

The Finnish pro navigated a field of 61 total entries and overcame a tough final table that saw eight players return, with only seven guaranteed a slice of the $500,000 prize pool.

Returning in eighth, Elkku35 was the unfortunate bubble boy after busting early in Day 2 action. From there, the remaining seven locked up at least $19,000, but it was Varonen who steadily climbed to the top, eventually defeating start-of-day chip leader "gragik" heads-up to secure the title and nearly $200K in prize money.

While the PLO tournaments are now down to their final 18 players, more on those later, the $5,200 PLO Main Event wrapped up a day early.

Varonen Victorious in $5,200 PLO Main

Lauri "Lateski" Varonen earned their maiden SCOOP title in style by taking down the SCOOP 85-H: $5,200 PLO Main Event, pocketing $192,075. The Finnish player bested a 61-entry field to seal one of the most prestigious titles of the series.

Following his ninth career SCOOP title in Event 86-H, Kelvin "Kelvin_FP:AR" Kerber powered his team to a +235-point boost, closing the gap to just 395 points behind Spraggy. Kerber’s personal heater has put his squad firmly in contention as the SCOOP League enters its critical final stretch.

SCOOP League captain Kelvin "Kelvin_FP:AR" Kerber made headlines once again by capturing his ninth career SCOOP title. The turbo-structured high roller drew 191 entries and featured a $200,000 prize pool split between bounties and regular payouts.

Kerber bested "tarantaleo" heads-up to clinch the title — his first of the 2025 SCOOP and his eighth since 2022. His maiden SCOOP victory came a decade ago in 2015, and he's now well within reach of double-digit titles.

Since then, he’s showcased remarkable versatility, winning in a wide range of formats including Stud, FLHE, PLO8, and high-stakes PKO events. Among his most impressive feats is the $615K payday from the $5,200 Titans event in 2024.

Whether battling through small-field mixed games or high-roller shootouts, Kerber has proved repeatedly that he’s one of SCOOP’s most complete and consistent performers.
