Day 1b Completed
After 43 players qualified for Day 2 of the 2024 World Series of Poker Circuit Sanremo €1,000 Main Event on Day 1a, 70 more players bagged their chips at the end of Day 1b, here at the Casinò Sanremo.
These are the remaining players from a field of 281 entrants, bringing the provisional total to 453 entries. Twelve 45-minute levels were played today to reach the last 25% of the field. Among the remaining players, Angelo Marrone ended up as the chip leader with 493,000 chips. Claudio Di Giacomo held the chip lead until the very last hand of the day but lost a big pot to Maxwell Young to finish with 482,500.

Last year’s finalist Tahar Said secured 275,000 chips for Day 2. He could have had even more but folded jacks preflop moments before the dinner break. His friend Antonin Teisseire was involved in the hand, but unlike Said, the WSOP bracelet winner failed to qualify after being one of the last players eliminated today.
Speaking of WSOP champions, Giovanni Rosadoni (102,500) and two-time bracelet champion Ilija Savevski (78,500) have qualified for Day 2, as well as EPT champion Giuliano Bendinelli (112,000), who doubled up with kings earlier during the day, and Anthony Mahaut (119,500), who won the WSOPC ring in Event #3, the €400 Superstack, yesterday.
While a total of 118 players have already secured a spot on Day 2, even more players have failed to do so thus far. Defending champion Georgios Tsouloftas, Paolo Boi, Moundir Zoughari, Florian Ribouchon, and Sarah Jarry were all seen on Day 1b but didn’t bag chips.
They still have more opportunities with Day 1c, scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, November 9, at 1 p.m., which follows the same structure as Day 1a and Day 1b, and Day 1d Turbo, which starts at 8 p.m. with 20-minute levels.
Stay tuned as PokerNews will be back on-site tomorrow for coverage of the two remaining Main Event starting flights.
