Hu was trailing and unable to spike a set through the 8♥5♦8♣10♠9♣ runout, as Livschitz held with pocket kings to score the knockout.
Billy Baxter opened to 1,500 on the button and Amir Mirrasouli made the call in the big blind.
Mirrasouli checked the 2♦A♠K♦ flop and Baxter continued for 1,800. Mirrasouli quickly tossed in the call before both players checked the 10♠ turn.
The dealer completed the board with the A♣ river and Mirrasouli tossed out a bet of 3,000. Baxter took a moment before laying it down, as Mirrasouli added to his growing stack.
Victoria Livschitz opened to 1,700 in middle position and found a call from Jonathan Pastore in the big blind.
Both players checked the 2♠10♥3♥ flop before Pastore led out for 1,200 on the 6♦ turn. Livschitz took some time before making the call and the K♠ river was revealed.
Pastore checked and Livschitz did the same to reach a showdown. Pastore tabled 8♠6♥ for a pair of sixes, earning the pot as Livschitz mucked.
Taylor Paur opened to 1,800 from under the gun and was called by Francisco Fragoso on his immediate left. Martin Carnero then three-bet to 10,000 in the big blind, with only Paur making the call.
Carnero led out for 6,000 on the A♦3♠7♣ flop and Paur made the call. The Q♣ was revealed on the turn, and Carnero slowed down with a check.
Paur fired a bet of 18,000 and the call was made. Carnero checked again after the 6♠ river and Paur slid out enough chips to put his opponent all in.
After taking a few minutes, Carnero slid out the call. Paur turned over 6♣6♦ for a rivered set of sixes, eliciting a groan from Carnero as he tabled K♠K♥ to end his night a little early.
Slow and steady was the theme of the day at the 2025 LA Poker Classic, as players took aim at building a stack on Day 1a of the $10,000 LAPC Main Event.
The opening flight saw a total of 47 entries taking their seats at The Commerce Casino & Hotel, with 26 surviving the first six levels of action to bag for Monday’s Day 2. The prize pool currently stands at $437,100, with Day 1b and Day 2 late registration still ahead.
Leading with is Taylor Paur, who bagged up 326,800 chips good for 327 big blinds to begin Level 7. Paur knocked out Martin Carnero late in the last level when he caught a set on the river to beat pocket kings and vault into the dominant chip lead.
Earlier in the day, Paur flopped two pair to crack Bill Klein’s pocket aces for and score the knockout.
Sitting in second spot is Evgeniy Tsyrenov, who amassed 251,500 chips to finish just ahead of George Archer (245,000).
After holding the chip lead for the better part of two levels, Amir Mirrasouli was overtaken in the final level and settled for fourth spot with 233,300, while Mexico's Francisco Fragoso rounds out the top five with 176,700.

Many notable names joined the field and found a bag, including WSOP bracelet winners Nick Pupillo (136,600), Pedro Bromfman (106,000), Faraz Jaka (83,900), and Brian Hastings (57,900).
Victoria Livschitz (127,500) collected chips on Level 5, finding pocket kings against queens to send Anthony Hu out. Billy Baxter scored a double with Broadway against a set of queens and finished the day with 58,300.
