Patrick Tober was seen getting his final 80,000 or so chips in from under the gun on a board of Q♣3♦9♣. Tobias Heinsdorf was the other player in the hand and made the call from the big blind to put Tober at risk.
Patrick Tober: A♦A♥
Tobias Heinsdorf: Q♥5♠
The turn immediately fell Q♦ and Tober gave the table a friendly knock. The K♦ river indeed did not improve him to a full house, and he said his goodbyes.
In the meantime, Stefan Zaugg's short stack was also gone from the table.
Kathrin Wolfinger was seen giving her final chips to another player on the table. She was eliminated and that would mean that the Liechtenstein national would have to wait for another opportunity to seize the all-time money lead of her country.
When the action was caught, Emil Abadgiev had put 60,000 chips in the middle from the small blind, while "The $hark" was all-in for 211,000.
Abadgiev ahd the covering stack and thought about it for a while, talking to himself in process. Eventually, he made the call for a pot of over 400,000.
"The $hark": K♠K♥
Emil Abadgiev: J♠J♥
Aware of the possibility of being beaten preflop, Abadgiev sadly looked on as the K♦8♦3♦6♥Q♥ board hit the table, and would remain in his seat for a few moments beofre eventually acating the tournament area.
Martin Ganchev had put his last 54,000 chips in from middle position and Leonardo Avantaggiato rejammed from the next seat over for 66,000. The other players folded and the cards went on their backs.
Martin Ganchev: K♠10♠
Leonardo Avantaggiato: A♦K♥
Avantaggiato had the dominating hand, and when the board ran out 7♦3♠9♥A♦K♥, he would be the victor.
Ganchev was among the dozen or so players that have been eliminated already on the first level of the day.
"Sancho" was all-in from under the gun and Stefan Zaugg had made the call from early position. The rest of the table got out of the way and the two players had an early showdown.
"Sancho": J♦J♠
Stefan Zaugg: Q♣Q♠
"Sancho" had one foot out of the door, however, the deck had a surprise in store when he promptly flopped quads on J♣9♦J♥. The turn 9♣ meant there would be no miraculous runner-runner runout for Zaugg, and the 5♣ river was dealt as a formality.
Zaugg would be left with 5,000, which he would quadruple a few hands later to still have a shot to make the money.
After a careful recount, it appears that 601 total entries have been made across all flights, of which 154 have entered Day 2. 89 of those will receive some money, with a mincash of CHF 570 and CHF 40,200 reserved for first place.
All of the chips are out of their bags and on the table, and most of the players have taken their seats. Cards are in the air and Day 2 of the THMC Liechtenstein Main Event is officially underway.
Welcome to Day 2 of the 2023 The Hendon Mob Championship (THMC) Liechtenstein CHF 300 ($332) Main Event. Over the course of six starting flights, 489 entries have been made at Grand Casino Liechtenstein. Out of them, only 118 people bagged their chips for Day 2. However, one more starting flight is taking place at the time of writing, being the turbo-structured Day 1g. With late registration closed, the clock counts a total of 107 entries, thus making the complete tally for the entire Main event stand at 596 entries.
The current chip leader is Arjan van Bavel from the Netherlands. He decimated the competition on the starting flight of Day 1e, bagging an impressive 915,000 chips, or over 150 big blinds when play resumes. The chip leader of the very first flight Day 1a, meanwhile, sits in second with about one and a half times fewer chips than Van Bavel. Switzerland's Daniel Schwitter gathered 585,000 chips that day, good for nearly 100 big blinds. Day 1b's chip leader "Johnylero", finally, rounds out the top three as they were the last player to bag over 500,000 chips, bringing 575,000 chips into Day 2.
Meanwhile, Day 1d's and Day 1f's chip leaders Silas Germann (478,000) and Bruno Keller (473,000) round out the top 5. Bear in mind, however, that the leaderboard might still change as Day 1g has not yet reached its completion at the time of writing.

The guaranteed prize pool stood at CHF 200,000, and that has not been hit. Thus, some extra overlay value is in store for all the grinders still in contention. The exact payouts will be announced somewhere during Day 2, but the expectation is that around 15% of the total field will be in the money. The bubble is guaranteed to burst today as the plan is to play down to a final table of eight people. Thus, it looks like a long day is ahead for our remaining competitors.
Day 2 will start at 4 p.m. local time with the blinds at 3,000/6,000, with a 6,000 big blind ante. The duration of the levels has been prolonged to 45 minutes, from the 30-minute levels that were the norm on Day 1's. As mentioned, the field is scheduled to play down to the final eight players, at which point they will bag for their return at 6 p.m. on June 5th for Day 3. The final table is set to be live streamed, creating an extra incentive for the players to make it that far.
PokerNews will, as always, provide the key hands and other important updates straight from the tournament floor. So stay tuned to catch all of the action here on Day 2 of the THMC Liechtenstein Main Event.
