Park Makes it Look Like a Walk in the Park

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Peter Park
Peter Park

Nathan Kogel open-shoved from middle position for about 22,000 chips, putting his tournament life on the line. Peter Park's senses were tingling as he made the call and had Kogel covered.

Kogel exposed his {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} while Park flipped over the {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} and had Kogel in trouble.

The board ran out {a-}{2-}{4-}{6-}{10-} and Kogel's day was done.

"You're so lucky, how do you do it?" a tablemate asked. Park just smiled as he stacked his chips.

Abi-Zeid Predicts the Future in Multi-Way Pot

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

George Abi-Zeid opened in early position and got 5 callers, one of which was Jonathan Tamayo with a big stack.

"This is going to be a big pot," said Abi-Zeid, "look at all the callers."

The flop came {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and action checked to Abi-Zeid. He continued for 10,000 into his quintet of opponents. It didn't look like he would get any action as each player folded until it reached Tamayo who decided to go all in for his stack of over 100,000. Back to Abi-Zeid who snapped called.

Abi-Zeid turned over {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for top set and Tamayo couldn't believe it as he revealed {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for middle set himself.

Tamayo couldn't make quads on the turn or river so Abi-Zeid raked in the big pot as his prediction came true.

Lofaso Finds a Big Blind Special

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Luke Shaw opened in early position and found two callers, including La Sengphet in late position and Robert Lofaso in the big blind.

The flop showed {5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Lofaso checked it to Shaw. Shaw continued for 5,000, Sengphet called, and Lofaso check-raised all in to about 14,000.

"How much more is it?" asked Shaw just before making the call while Sengphet got out of the way.

Lofaso showed {5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for flopped trips while Shaw showed {a-}{j-} for the cooler flop. The {10-Clubs} turn and {a-Diamonds} river wasn't enough to help Shaw and Lofaso brought himself back into a healthy chip stack.

Abad Finds a Set in the Window

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action picked up just after both Jennifer Abad and Maxwell Young had gone all in preflop. Abad was the effective stack with about 50,000 chips and Young covered her by plenty.

Abad revealed her {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} while Young had {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for the classic race.

Abad got a big head start in that race when the {10-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{k-Spades} showed up with her set in the window. She had to fade the gutshot of Young, but the {8-Spades} turn and {3-Clubs} river came clean for her.

"Alright, I guess I'll stick around if you guys want me to," said Abad as she stacked her chips.

Djonli Picks Off the River Bluff

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Winston Djonli
Winston Djonli

On the final hand before break, action picked up on the river with the board reading {4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{q-Spades}{k-Spades} and about 60,000 in the pot. La Sengphet announced "all in" and put her opponent, Winston Djonli, into the tank for his last 40,000 chips.

Eventually, Djonli made the call and Sengphet flipped over her {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for the missed straight flush draw. Djonli tabled the {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for second pair, enough to win the important pot and keep his tournament alive.

Compton Gets Max Value

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action picked up on the turn with a board reading {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Kenneth Brunette bet 6,000 in position. John Compton check-called the bet.

The turn brought the {3-Spades} and Compton checked again. Brunette fired for 10,000. Compton quickly sprung to action and check-raised to 30,000. Brunetted decided on a call and the swelling pot went to a river.

The {2-Spades} fell and Compton shoved for 55,000 effective. Brunette didn't think too long before committing his stack.

Compton rolled over the {a-Spades}{6-Spades} for two pair to outdraw the {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} of Brunette.
