Allen Starts Out Hot

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Action started on the river with a board of {8-}{2-}{8-}{q-}{j-} and Johnathan Morrell lead into James Allen for 1,400. Allen didn't think too long before putting in the river raise to about 5,400. Morrell called fairly quickly.

Allen flipped over the {q-}{8-} for the full house and Morrell mucked. Allen picked up about 70 big blinds in level one to start his tournament off hot.

Appel Makes Three Queens and Gets Paid

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Chaim Appel bet 4,000 chips on the river into a nearly 7,000 chip pot. The board read {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Hot off a full house of his own, James Allen tossed in the call with his table chip lead.

Unfortunately for Allen, this time it was Appel that had the goods. Appel showed the {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for trips and scooped the early pot.

Appel Sets the Trap and Catches a Double

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

5 players saw the flop of {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for 600 per man. Appel checked it from early position and Warwick bet 2,200 into the pot of 3,100. Action folded back to Appel who elected to check-raise to 6,500 and Warwick called.

The turn brought the {6-Hearts} and Appel now slowed down and checked. Warwick bet 17,000, just over the size of the pot. Appel sprung the rare double check-raise and went all in for 23,000 total. Warwick called but felt he was behind.

"I have a full house," said Appel as he showed {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

"That's alright, I can still suck out," said Warwick with hope as he turned over {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

The turn brought the {10-Clubs} and secured Appel's victory as he jumped to an early chip leader spot.

Hendrix's River Bet Gets it Done

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Willie Hendrix raised to 600 from middle position and saw two callers. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and Hendrix checked to Robert Marks who bet 1,200. The big blind folded and Hendrix called.

The turn came the {a-Spades} and Hendrix checked again. Marks bet 1,200 again, but this time Hendrix check-raised to 3,100 which got a quick call.

The river fell the {2-Spades} and Hendrix now led for 5,000. After thinking for some time, Marks let his hand go and Hendrix scooped a nice-sized pot.
