Dong Chen raised to 6,000 from under the gun and Ami Barer called on the button. They went heads-up to a flop of 552 where Chen started with a check. Bared tossed in a bet of 10,500 and Chen check-raised to 35,000 which Barer called.

The turn brought the 7 and Chen checked again. Barer counted out a bet of 16,500 and Chen gave up as he ditched his cards to the muck.

Barer Rivers a Pair, Not Good Enough

Ami Barer opened to 6,000 from under the gun and was called by Quan Zhou on the button and Ivan Zhang in the big blind. The flop came A95 and the action checked around to the 6 on the turn.

Barer fired out a delayed bet of 11,000 and Zhou raised to 26,000 which got Zhang out. Barer still called and the K hit the river. Barer checked this time and Zhou knuckled the table as well. Barer turned over K8 for a pair of kings but Zhou held A10 for a pair of aces to scoop the pot.

Nitsche led out with a bet of 21,000 and Zhou opted to send his cards to the muck, pushing Nitsche over starting stack for the first time this tournament, albeit on his second bullet.

Marius Gierse opened to 5,500 from under the gun and was called by Ami Barer in middle position and Quan Zhou in the big blind. The flop came J85 and Gierse continued with a bet of 8,000 which both Barer and Zhou called.

The 5 paired the board on the turn and Gierse announced another bet of 22,000. Barer still called but Zhou stepped aside. The 5 completed the board and Gierse slung in a bet of 100,000. Barer wasted little time before folding and Gierse raked in the pot.

Ivan Zhang raised to 5,500 on the button and was called by Ami Barer and Dong Chen in the blinds. The flop came 854 and the action checked to Zhang who continued with a bet of 16,000. Barer called and Chen got out of the way.

The turn brought the 9 and both players checked to the 4 on the river. Barer led out with a bet of 22,000 and Zhang quickly folded.

A few hands later, Marius Gierse made it 5,500 on the button and Barer called from the big blind. The flop fell AJ3 and Barer check-called a bet of 4,000 from Gierse.

The A paired the board on the turn and both players checked to the 7 on the river. Barer fired out a bet of 4,500 and Gierse let his hand go.

Just prior to the dinner break, Dominik Nitsche was seen leaving his seat with his short stack being passed to Ami Barer on his right.

Coming back from the break, only Ivan Zhang and Gary Thompson were in their seats when the cards were dealt. Zhang raised to 5,500 and Thompson three-bet to 18,000 from the small blind. Zhang four-bet shoved all in and Thompson called off his stack of around 80,000.

Zhang was currently out front but Thompson had two suited connectors with live cards. The board ran out 55488 and Zhang's ace-high was enough to eliminate Thompson.
