"Me and the Great Jason Bobby"

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

With around 14,000 in the pot and a board reading {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon shoved all in for a bit more than the size of the pot. Action was on fellow Madison poker player Jason Bobby, who was contemplating what to do.

"Me and the great Jason Bobby," Kroon said. "Let's see if he's good enough to fold a big hand."

Bobby thought a little longer and then folded the {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} face up.

"Great fold," Kroon said before showing the {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}.

"I really wanted to fold the turn to be honest," Bobby admitted.

Zarlenga Run Over by a Boat; Irani Reenters

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

We saw reigning MSPT FireKeepers champ Jason Zarlenga exiting the tournament floor, and a quick check with his former tabled confirmed that he had been eliminated. According to Brian Ganos, who did the deed, Zarlenga had flopped a straight but ended up busting when Ganos turned a set and rivered a full house. Zarlenga asked where he goes to reenter, so we expect to see him back in action sooner than later.

Meanwhile, Zal Irani has reentered the tournament.

Get to Know the PokerNews Live Reporting Blog

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

With PokerNews proudly delivering coverage throughout Season 5 of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT), we thought new readers following the coverage could use a quick primer on the live blog's set-up and structure.

The red tabs on the screen allow you to navigate between PokerNews' live blogging coverage - which includes hand recaps, player interviews, chip count updates, photos and all the rest - and the site's other extremely useful features.

If you prefer to simply scan the chip counts to see how your favorite players are faring, clicking the red tab titled "Chip Counts" will take you to a list screen with updated chip counts for the players we have information for. Those using the MyStack app from the table can always add their counts to this page through their smartphones, so if you don't see who you're searching for in the counts, have them download MyStack and update their progress as the day continues.

The “Player Updates" tab is next, and this tool allows you to see how notable players and top pros have been faring lately, with arrows showing if they have been climbing or falling in the counts.

Finally, if you just want to soak in the scene from the various MSPT stops, click on the "Photo Gallery" tab to take a look at a gallery of photos taken throughout the day.

Combining the "Live Reporting" coverage PokerNews strives to provide with these three tabs is the best way to enjoy our continued coverage of the MSPT, because you can follow along in the way you prefer. If you like the stories emerging from the event, stick with the "Live Reporting" tab to read all about the goings on here from the floor. If chip count tracking is what you prefer, the "Chip Counts" tab is the perfect way to track the tournament. When you're only interested in a particular player's progress, the "Player Updates" tab will keep you're coverage centralized. And if you just like seeing your favorite players do their thing, the "Photo Gallery" tab takes you on a visual tour of the tournament as it happens.

Full House Not Good Enough for Irani

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner Zal Irani walked by our desk and informed us that he was eliminated at the tail end of Level 1.

"Full house against a flopped straight flush," he explained. He then elaborated that it was a blind-versus-blind situation in which he held {9-}{8-} and his opponent {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, but the two ended up getting it all in when the turn was an {8-}.

"Reenter," Irani responded when we asked the rhetorical question 'what can you do.'

More for Solovjev

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

"Are you going to let anyone else win?" Lob Khedup asked over at Table 6. That's because Alex Solovjev has been raking in pot after pot.

In one hand we watched, Solovjev raised to 250 under the gun and Jim McManus called from the hijack. Khedup came along from the button, the big blind did too, and four players saw a flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. The big blind checked, Solovjev bet 700, and both McManus and Khedup folded. The big blind check-called, but then check-folded to a bet of 3,000 on the {2-Spades} turn.

Two Former MSPT Champions in the Field

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Back in May, Jason Zarlenga topped a field of 411 entrants to win the 2014 MSPT FireKeepers Casino for $101,482. Zarlenga has made the trip over from Michigan and wasn't afraid to get his chips in early, though he did it with the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. Surprisingly, his opponent held the same hand with the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.

Chances were it was going to be a chopped pot, but if the sick beat Connor Drinan took in the 2014 Big One for One Drop taught us anything, it's that four flushes do happen. The {3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop gave Zarlenga a freeroll to running clubs, but it wasn't in the cards as the {2-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. The meaningless {10-Hearts} was put out on the river for good measure, and then Zarlenga and his opponent split the pot.

In other news, another MSPT champion is in the field today. Back in March, Jason Sell topped a record field of 393 players to win the MSPT Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells title and $97,539 first-place prize. Sell, who began the day with just 14 big blinds, scored his victory after defeating 2012 World Series of Poker National Championship runner-up Nik Stone in heads-up play. Sell is currently in action and sitting at the same table as WSOP bracelet winner Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin and car dealership owner Jon Green.

McManus vs. Solovjev

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

With 4,200 in the pot and a board reading {4-Spades}{9-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, Alex Solovjev checked from the small blind and noted poker author Jim McManus bet 2,625 from middle position. Solovjev paused for a few moments before check-raising to 5,700, and it did the trick as the scribe quickly released his cards.
