Tran Scores Double Elimination

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Andy Tran
Andy Tran

Jason Seitz open-jammed for 28,100 from early position and Andy Tran called sitting directly to his left. Action folded around to Blake Bohn who tossed his last 16,000 in from the small blind and the three players tabled their hands.

Jason Seitz: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Andy Tran: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Blake Bohn: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Bohn was ahead with his snowmen until the {q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop hit the felt pairing Tran's queen.

The {j-Hearts} turn gave Seitz a broadway draw needing a king to stay alive with Bohn needing a thrid snowmen.

Unfortunately for both Seitz and Bohn, the river fell the {3-Spades} sending both players out the door.

Helu Doubles Through Monarch

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

There was heads-up action between Nick Welu on the button and Jason Monarch from middle position.

The board read {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and Monarch checked his option to Welu who moved all in for 22,500 into a 20,000 pot. After some consideration, Monarch called.

Nick Welu: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Jason Monarch: {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Welu turned the full house and Monarch was drawing to a queen but the {9-Spades} fell on the river giving Welu the double.

Sandness Pushes Kachel Out of the Pot

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

After three players limped, Mark Sandness raised to 16,000 from the small blind. The player in the big folded and the under-the-gun limper three-bet all in for 32,000. William Kachel called from the cutoff, Loki Abboud folded the button, and Sandness four-bet all in over the top for 56,800 more.

Kachel thought long and hard before saying, "I know I'm behind but I'm feeling really good about this hand."

Eventually, he folded the {k-Spades}{9-Clubs} face up before the other two players tabled their hands.

Mark Sandness: {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

It was a flip and while Sandness didn't take the lead on the {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop he did pick up an open-ended straight draw. The {q-Diamonds} turn paired Sandness and interestingly would've given Kachel the straight. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn sealed it for Sandness and he scored the knockout while collecting a hefty pot.

Nines Hold for Tran Sending Bohn to the Re-Buy Desk

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Blake Bohn
Blake Bohn

Action on the table folded around to Andy Tran who raised to 4,500 on the button and Blake Bohn three-bet jammed for 51,500 from the small blind. The big blind player folded and Tran put in his chips for the call.

Andy Tran: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Blake Bohn: {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Bohn wasn't mad once the cards were tabled but didn't like the {2-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop.

The {2-Clubs} turn paired the board and Bohn needed to spike one of his overs to stay alive.

Unfortunately for Bohn, the river fell the {4-Clubs} sending him the re-buy desk.

Alsup Wins Flip for Double

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Rich Alsup
Rich Alsup

A player from early position limped in and action folded to a player in middle position who raised to 8,000. Rob Wazwaz called sitting directly to his left and Rich Alsup three-bet to 25,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to the initial raiser who four-bet jammed and Wazwaz mucked his hand while Alsup called holding fewer chips.

Rich Alsup: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

It was a classic race with Alsup's pocket jacks out in front and nothing changed after the {7-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} runout giving Alsup the double up for 60,000.

Platinum Pass Winner Looking for More Good Luck at Canterbury

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Brandon Welter
Brandon Welter

Last December, Brandon Welter won a $30,000 Platinum Pass to the PSPC after having his name drawn for an eight-person heads-up flipament. He won three rounds and a month later was ahead to the Bahamas where he wound up cashing in one of poker's most-anticipated tournaments for $35,000.

Welter has returned to Canterbury Park and is looking for more luck. In a recent hand, the under-the-gun player limped before Welter raised to 3,200 from the hijack.

The player in the big blind called, as did the limped, and it was three-way action to the {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} flop. The trio checked and the dealer burned and turned the {k-Spades}.

Two checks put action on Welter and he put out a delayed continuation-bet of 4,500. It did the trick as both his opponents ditched their hands.

Vig Flops the Boat and Gets Paid

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

David Vig opened under the gun for 3,600 and was called by the button player along with Dilip Das from the small blind.

The {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop was checked to the button player who fired out 4,000 and Das called. Action was on Vig who raised to 10,500 and the button player quickly jammed all in getting a quick fold from Das while Vig called.

David Vig: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Vig flopped the world and left his opponent drawing to the case six.

The dealer completed the board with the {7-Diamonds} turn along the {8-Clubs} river to send his opponent packing.
