Zipprich Gets Big Value

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

In middle position, Dan Howell raised preflop to 4,000 and got action in two spots. He continued for 7,000 on the {10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop and only big blind Stephen Zipprich came along. Zipprich came out betting with 9,000 on the {10-Clubs} turn and Howell called. On the {2-Clubs} river, Zipprich bet 27,000.

Howell tanked about two minutes and called. Zipprich showed {10-Spades}{8-Spades} for trips and Howell nodded and mucked a jack face up.

Howell Upswinging Again

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Dan Howell bet 20,000 from the button with {q-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades} on the board, and the player in the cutoff jammed for only about 6,000 more. Howell quickly called and tabled {9-Spades}{7-Hearts} for two pair, seeing he'd gotten lucky against {a-}{q-}. The {5-Clubs} river kept his nines up best and the busted player offered a "nice hand, Dan" on his way out.

Mittleman Surprised to Win a Race

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Dave Mittleman put in a three-bet to about 17,000 from the big blind and Dan Howell moved all in from the cutoff. Mittleman thought a bit and then shoved his chips in. He turned over {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} and was racing against {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}.

The {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop was dreamy for Mittleman as it cut Howell's outs down to non-club cards. The {6-Diamonds} and {8-Diamonds} changed nothing and Mittleman sat back down.

"Never runs like that," he said with disbelief.

"It did that time," his neighbor said with a laugh.

Kiphardt Barrels Out Ermie

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Phil Kiphardt opened for 5,000 in the cutoff and Michael Ermie called on the button. After unknown flop action, Kiphardt bet 5,000 on the {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} board. Ermie called but folded to 10,000 on the {a-Spades} river.

Reiter Can't Find a Fold

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Dan Howell was on the button and made a pot-sized wager of 9,000 on a flop of {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts}. John Reiter called him in the small blind and the turn was a {6-Clubs}. Reiter checked and Howell put in what looked to be 35,000. Reiter had only a little more than that. He counted out his stack then announced all in.

Howell quickly called and showed {10-Spades}{7-Spades} for a turned straight. Reiter needed a ten to make a queen-high straight as he showed down {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for bottom pair on the flop. The river was a {4-Diamonds} and he headed for the exit.

Wilkie Finds a Friendly River

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Steve Wilkie got it all in on a board of {6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} holding {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and was called by a player holding {k-}{k-}. Wilke asked for any eight, any four or any diamond and he got just what he requested when the {k-Diamonds} gave him a winning flush for a double.

Stewart Shoves into Quads

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Scott Stewart
Scott Stewart

Three players saw a {3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop and Scott Stewart shoved into his opponents from the small blind for his last 7,700 with {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a straight flush draw.

Unfortunately for him, Cooper Wanty had flopped quad fives and sent him packing when he couldn't hit a single out.
