Arnold Sends Aces Home

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Travis Arnold
Travis Arnold

Carl Caranna saw action folded to him in middle position and limped in. A few more players folded before Travis ARnold limped in behind from the cutoff. The player on the button raised it up to 2,7000 and both Caranna and Arnold called.

The flop fell {9-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts} and action checked to the player on the button, who made a bet of 5,000. Caranna thought for a few moments, looking up to the bettor as he did. The bettor willingly spread his arms wide to display the 6,000 he had behind and Caranna folded to put action onto Arnold, who put in a check-raise to put the player on the button all in. A call was made.

All-In Player: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}
Travis Arnold: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

"I need help," said the all-in player after seeing his aces were up against a set of nines. He would not receive the help he needed as the turn {8-Diamonds} and river {k-Diamonds} completed the runout with his pair of aces remaining second best to spell his elimination at the expense of Arnold.

A Couple Flop Check-Shoves

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Nate Zoller
Nate Zoller

Hand #1: There was well over 12,000 in the middle on a board of {5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Brian Taylor checked from under the gun. His opponent in the hijack put out a bet of 6,000 and Taylor check-raised all in for what was totaled to be 21,900.

"That's a good number," said his opponent, thinking about her decision for a full minute before sending her cards to the muck. Taylor took down the pot and brought his stack back over 40,000.

Hand #2: Moments later on an adjacent table, Nate Zoller and Greg Collins were in a heads-up pot with Zoller under the gun and Collins in middle position. Zoller check-raised all in over a bet of 8,500 fro Collins, sending him into the tank for well over two minutes as he was faced with a decision for his remaining 29,500.

Eventually, a clock was called on him just as he was about to act. As such, he told the dealer a clock was not necessary and announced a fold to earn Zoller the pot.

Taylor Cracks Watkins' Big Slick

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Johnny Ambrosio opened the action with a raise to 2,400 and was called by Brian Taylor in the hijack. Sylvia Watkins was in the cutoff and three-bet all in for 11,400. Action folded back to Ambrosio and he let his hand go. Taylor then thought for some time before tossing in chips to call.

Sylvia Watkins: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Brian Taylor: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}

Watkins was out in front and stayed there on the flop {9-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. However, Taylor picked up four more outs to bring his total to 10. He hit one of them on the turn {7-Hearts}, giving him a pair of sevens and leaving Watkins in need of hitting an ace or queen to stay alive. She would not do so as the river fell {10-Clubs} and she was eliminated from the tournament.

Geller Over Six Figures After Knockout

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Greg Geller
Greg Geller

An all in and call were overheard as Greg Geller had announced an all-in bet from the cutoff on a flop of {10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and quickly received a call from his opponent in early position. The player who called was the one at risk and found himself in need of help once the hands were tabled.

All-In Player: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Greg Geller: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out clean and the all-in player was left dry on chips as he congratulated Geller on a nice hand and made his way from the table. Meanwhile, Geller now finds himself with around 120,500 in front of him nearing the likely halfway point of Day 1a.

Kotliarsky Doubles Through Bujorian

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Alex Kotliarsky
Alex Kotliarsky

Phil Bujorian saw action folded to him on the button and opened to 1,000. Alex Kotliarsky three-bet all in from the small blind and Bujorian called once it was his turn to do so.

Alex Kotliarsky: {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Phil Bujorian: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

The two were in a classic coin flip situation with Kotliarsky needing to hit one of his two overcards to stay alive in the tournament. The flop {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{a-Spades} put him out in front with top pair, leaving him in need of nothing more than fading the remaining two fours in the deck. The turn {8-Diamonds} and river {k-Spades} were safe on his behalf and he scored the double.
