David Blankenship opened the action with a raise to 3,000 in early position and action folded around to Stuart Brown, who was on the button and put in a three-bet large enough to put everybody all in that still had cards. Both players in the blinds folded and Blankenship took his remaining chips and splashed them down onto the felt in front of him.
David Blankenship:
Stuart Brown:
"I f*****g knew you had ace-king," said Blankenship, standing up and fully aware that the odds were against him. The flop was to give him nine more outs at a flush and the turn quickly filled up his draw.
"Sit back down!" said somebody at the table as the river completed the runout to give Blankenship the double.
Jeff Santarelli saw action folded to him in the cutoff and limped in. The player on the button folded to put action onto Stuart Brown, who completed his small blind. Robert Millot checked his option and the three saw the flop come . All three players checked.
The turn fell and action checked to Santarelli. He bet 2,000 and was check-raised to 7,000 by Brown. Millot got out of the way and Santarelli quickly slid forward all of his remaining chips. Brown sent his cards to the muck and the pot was shipped to Santarelli.
The tournament clock displays a total of 317, meaning the tournament has officially surpassed 1,000 entries over the four starting flights. The previous four-day record sat at 930 and that number will continue to climb as the late registration period remains open for another three hours.
Action was heads up between Matthew Caughey in the big blind and Dave Hampel, who was on the button on a board of when all the chips got in the middle. Hampel was the one at risk for his tournament life.
Dave Hampel:
Matthew Caughey:
Hampel found his queens up had run into a straight and needed the river to bring another queen or five. Instead, it came and he made his way from the table while the pot was shipped Caughey's way.
There was around 7,000 in the middle on a flop of with Sal Wahdan check-raising all in for 32,900 over a bet of 7,500 from his opponent. A clock had been called on her and Tournament Director Patrick Roy announced that there was 10 seconds left to act before the player pushed forward her stack of chips.
Sal Wahdan:
Opponent:
Wahdan had gotten stacks in with middle pair and a flush draw to give him a long list of outs. The turn was of no help but the river completed Wahdan's flush. The dealer counted his opponent's stack and it was totaled to be 32,400, 500 less than Wahdan.
An all in and call were overheard as an early-position player had reraised all in preflop into Devin Garcia, who was in middle position and quickly made the call.
All-In Player:
Devin Garcia:
The flop came to give Garcia top pair, leaving him in need of fading a jack for a chop or running hearts or fours. The turn was a slight scare and it came with the all-in player asking for a third heart to hit the board. Much to Garcia's fortune, the river was clean and he scored the knockout and the pot.
