A pile of chips well over 5,000 was already in the middle on a board reading with heads-up action between the under-the-gun Kevin Eyster and the player on his direct left. Eyster had made a bet and received a call, and his opponent was in the process of receiving change for the blue 5,000 chip he called with.
Nearly 15,000 was then in the middle as the two players went to the river . Eyster bet another 9,100 and his opponent went into the tank, thinking for around a full minute before letting his hand go.
Five players each committed 600 before the flop including Katie Wier in the small blind. The flop came and Wier checked. The big blind also checked to a player in middle position, who bet 1,000. The final two players in the hand each folded, sending action back to Wier. She made the call and the big blind did as well.
All three remaining players checked through the turn and the river fell . Wier checked again and the big blind bet 2,000. The player in middle position folded and then Wier made the call to take the hand to showdown.
The big blind tabled for top pair and Wier showed for aces up to earn her the pot.
There was 1,800 in the pot from preflop action and Lawrance Lossia had checked in the small blind on a board of . Lossia was facing a bet of 1,100 from Vic Peppe, who was on the button, and Lossia put in a check-raise to 3,100. Peppe called.
Lossia slowed down on the turn , checking over to Peppe again, and Peppe checked back to bring the river . Lossia checked one final time and Peppe thought for a couple of moments before putting out a bet of 4,500. Lossia called.
"Pair of sevens," said Peppe, showing . Lossia tabled for a flopped straight and Peppe acknowledged the nice hand as the pot was sent Lossia's way.
