After wrapping up in Black Hawk, the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) will be heading to Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, Iowa for another $1,100, $200K Guaranteed Main Event from August 20-22.

A week's worth of $70 and $260 satellites will lead up to the Main Event, which will have two starting flights on Friday, August 20 and Saturday, August 21, each at 3 p.m. local time before the field returns on Sunday, August 22 to play down to a winner.

Jacks Good for Tumulak

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Richard Tumulak on Day 1b
Richard Tumulak on Day 1b

Multiple bets went in preflop for the under-the-gun Mike Vanier and Richard Tumulak in the big blind to each commit 5,500 preflop, with Steve Wilkie calling the initial raise in middle position before folding to the subsequent aggression.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Tumulak checked to Vanier, who bet 5,000. Tumulak thought for a few moments and then check-shoved for 11,200, receiving a quick call from Vanier for the difference.

"Aces or kings?" asked Tumulak, showing {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. Vanier tabled one of each, {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, and Tumulak held as the turn {8-Hearts} and river {5-Diamonds} completed the runout.

"Let's go! One for JJ!" said Tumulak, clapping his hands together once as he did so.

"JJ!" said Wilkie from across the table. "King-four of clubs!" he added, telling Tumulak what he had and implying his flopped trips would have been best had he been in the pot.

"I know, that's why I went with the raise," responded Tumulak. "To get you out,"

"I should have just went with my gut," said Wilkie.

More than 6,000 was in the middle from preflop action with two players holding cards. The flop came {5-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Daniel Sandoval checked under the gun to his opponent in the cutoff, who bet 2,000.

"How much is it?" asked Sandoval from the opposite side of the table. The dealer confirmed the amount and he called, bringing the turn {8-Hearts} where action went check-check.

The river fell {k-Diamonds} and Sandoval reached for chips, grabbing 3,300 and tossing it into the felt. His opponent thought for a second, shook his head, and then sent his cards to the center of the table to earn Sandoval the pot sans showdown.

Hal Rotholz
Hal Rotholz

"Aces-versus-kings, second hand," said Hal Rotholz on his way out of the tournament area just moments after having previously been eliminated once prior. The back-to-back eliminations on his end spelled the end of his MSPT Black Hawk bid, and he made his way to the elevator to head out as a result.

"I'll be in Cherokee next," he added

Nate Zoller: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
Cutoff: {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

Zoller faded a board-pairing river as {4-Spades} completed the runout and the double was shipped his way.
