Suzuki, Buckley Fall

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Patrick Suzuki
Patrick Suzuki

Patrick Suzuki open-jammed in the cutoff and received action from Frank Wright in the small blind. Wright had the better hand the whole way and sent Suzuki out in 24th.

Moments later, Buckley open-jammed under the gun with {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and ran it into the {9-}{9-} of Victor Shumway, who was on the button. He, too, was unable to improve and fell in 23rd.

MSPT Grand Falls August 20-22

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 10,000 ante
Final four tables of MSPT Grand Falls.
Final four tables of MSPT Grand Falls.

After wrapping up in Black Hawk, the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) will be heading to Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, Iowa for another $1,100, $200K Guaranteed Main Event from August 20-22.

A week's worth of $70 and $260 satellites will lead up to the Main Event, which will have two starting flights on Friday, August 20 and Saturday, August 21, each at 3 p.m. local time before the field returns on Sunday, August 22 to play down to a winner.

Grand Falls has long been a staple on the MSPT schedule since its first stop there in 2012, and has recently seen record-setting turnouts of 488 and 518 during its last two stops in January 2021 and August 2020, the latter of which awarded a top prize of $107,709 to Mark Collins for his victory.

PokerNews will be offering live updates at the upcoming MSPT Grand Falls.

Church More Than Doubles; Menefee Gets Caged

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 10,000 ante
Cy Church
Cy Church

Frank Wise opened in early position and saw both Brian Menefee and Cy Church commit all of their chips from the hijack and small blind, respectively. He called for the chance at a double knockout.

Brian Menefee: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Cy Church: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Frank Wise: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

An uneventful {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts} runout came in Church's favor and he scooped both pots and a knockout to go along with it, bringing him over 1.3 million and eliminating Menefee in 25th place.

Rutt Walked Out of the Tournament

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 10,000 ante

Marc Rutt opened to 140,000 in middle position and action folded to Jordan Walker, who re-jammed in the small blind. Rutt called his stack of just over 500K and both hands were tabled.

Marc Rutt: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Jordan Walker: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, keeping Walker out in front. "Sweat," said another player at the table as the turn {k-Diamonds} gave Collins flush outs to go along with it. However, the river {4-Hearts} fell cleanly in Walker's favor, eliminating Rutt in 26th place, just after the short-stacked Bruce Carter fell in 27th.
