Mike Shin
Mike Shin

Mike Shin was in the big blind on a {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop and he checked. An opponent in the cutoff bet 2,100, about the size of the pot. Shin called, bringing the {10-Hearts} turn. Shin checked again and his opponent quickly set him in for 11,800. Shin folded just as quickly.

Rimington Gets Huge Value

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

A player opened for 700 under the gun and was called by Justin Ligeri in the small blind before Ryan Rimington made it 1,800 in the big. Everyone continued to the {2-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop. Action checked to the preflop opener, who bet 2,100. Only Rimington called. The {j-Diamonds} was checked through to the {3-Spades} river. Rimington fired out 9,000, a little under the pot.

His opponent thought about a minute and called but couldn't beat {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}.

Pat Lyons busted out a moment later at the neighboring table.

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

Dan Lowery was in the hijack, and he and an opponent on the button each put in 1,000 on an {a-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Spades} flop. On the {6-Diamonds} turn, Lowery check-called another 1,000. On the {3-Clubs} river, he led out 1,000 himself. The player on the button called but couldn't beat {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

Shin Avoids Further Losses

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

Mike Shin was in late position and facing off against the big blind on a board of {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts}. He bet 1,800 and received a call, so they went to a {4-Spades} river. Shin opted to check this one back and was glad he did when his opponent turned over {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a straight.

Three players saw a flop of {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. The hijack bet 1,000 after a check and Justin Ligeri contemplated awhile before calling on his left. The other player folded. The {7-Diamonds} saw both players check, bringing the {k-Hearts}. Ligeri faced a bet of 2,200 but he wanted to play for more and tossed in 6,000. His opponent folded pretty quickly.

Ligeri got seventh for $21,532 last time the MSPT was in town.
