Liebert's Stack Get Flushed

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Kathy Liebert opened to 2,000 first-to-act and was called by a player on the button and the big blind.

Liebert was checked to on the {a-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop, and she continued for 3,000. Only the player on the button called.

The {q-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Liebert fired again for 5,000. This time her opponent raised to 13,000 and Liebert tossed in a call.

The {8-Spades} completed the board and Liebert checked to her opponent, who went all in for 13,600. Liebert tanked, but eventually called and her opponent showed {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flush. Liebert mucked and was left with just 6,000 in chips.

MSPT Heads Back to Iowa's Riverside Casino July 23-25

Riverside Casino

Season 12 of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) continues next month with the tour’s second-ever visit to Riverside Casino. PokerNews will be on-site to provide live updates.

For the second time this year, the MSPT is headed to Riverside Casino & Golf Resort in Riverside, Iowa from July 23-25 for the $1,110 buy-in, $200K GTD 2021 Iowa State Poker Championship.

A series of $70 and $260 satellites, which will begin in early July, will feed into the Main Event. That tournament will feature two starting flights starting with Day 1a at 3 p.m. local time on Friday, July 23. Day 1b will take place at the same time on Saturday, July 24, while the surviving players from both flights will return at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 25 to play down to a winner.

The Main Event, which will be live reported by PokerNews, will start players with 25,000 in chips and play 40-minute levels.

The MSPT first visited Riverside Casino back in March when it attracted a state record 862 entries. 27-year-old Daniel Sepiol emerged victorious in that tournament to claim a career-high score of $162,750.

"I've played a lot of these tournaments and made some deep runs but never really made runs at the final table," he said after the win. "So, it feels good."

July's edition is expected to be another large affair, so don't hesitate in making your plans today.

Le Dusted

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

A player in early position opened to 1,200 and was called by Tuan Le on the button and the player in hte big blind.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts} and action checked to the original raiser, who continued for 1,700. Le went all in for his last 6,000 and the player in the big blind then check-raised to 11,000. The original bettor folded and hands were tabled.

Le: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Big blind: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Le was in bad shape with his inferior kicker and the {4-Diamonds} turn and {7-Diamonds} river left the two-time bracelet winner and WPT champion second best.

Cada's Stack Takes a Hit

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

A player opened to 1,500 from the lojack and was called by the player on the button and the small blind. Joe Cada then cut out a raise to 7,800 and placed it into the middle from the big blind. The original raiser immediately went all in for a bit more and everyone else folded back to Cada, who called.

Lojack: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Cada: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Cada was dominated and the {6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} runout was of no help, forcing him to double his opponent up.

Anthony Marquez

On a completed board of {2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Anthony Marquez was facing a bet from a player in the hijack large enough to put Marquez all in for his last 11,500. Marquez tanked, but eventually pushed his stack into the middle.

His opponent shook his head and reluctantly showed {a-}{j-}. Marquez tabled {3-Spades}{3-Hearts} and doubled up with his small pair.
