Day 1c Completed

Peter Braglia Bags Day 1c Chip Lead of MSPT $1,600 Main Event

After three full days of poker, all Day 1's of the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour $1,600 Venetian Main Event have come to an end.

Fittingly, the Day 1 finale produced our current tournament chip leader — none other than Peter Braglia of Las Vegas, who bagged a commanding 846,000 by the day's end.

Day 1c drew a massive 1,032 entry field that dwindled to fewer than 200 by the time play ended. When combined with the entries from Day 1a and Day 1b, the total number of entries came in at 2,011, which in turn generated a $2,865,675 prize pool.

A total of 207 players will make the money, with a min-cash being worth $3,725 and the eventual winner taking home $412,086.

Notables who bagged into Day 2 include Ryan Laplante (408,000), Nadya Magnus (263,000), Kathy Liebert (253,000), Matt Stout (83,000), Ryan Franklin (260,000), and Chris Moorman (160,000).

Some others who tried, but won't be joining us on Day 2 today include Matt Affleck, Ryan Riess, Jared Jaffee, Maria Konnikova, and Ari Engel.

Day 2 will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. local time, although players are encouraged to come a bit early to allow time to unbag their chips.

Stay tuned to PokerNews as we race toward the money bubble and continue to bring you the action from the MSPT $1,600 Venetian Main Event!

Braglia Flushing Away The Competition

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Peter Braglia
Peter Braglia

A player opened to 11,000 in early position and was called by Peter Braglia in the small blind and the player in the big blind.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{q-Spades} and action checked to the original raiser, who continued for 20,000. Only Braglia called.

The {2-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Braglia checked again, prompting an all-in bet for about 90,000 from his opponent. Braglia thought for a bit and called to put his opponent at risk.

Early-position player: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Braglia: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Braglia was behind, but had a lot of outs with his pair and flush draw.

The {a-Diamonds} river gave Braglia the nut flush and he eliminated his opponent.

Braglia currently sits with over 800,000 in chips and is our presumed tournament chip leader.

Franklin Can't Call

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Ryan Franklin
Ryan Franklin

A player in the hijack opened to 6,500 and was called by Ryan Franklin on the button and Scott Davies in the small blind.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and action checked to Franklin, who bet 5,500. Davies folded, but the player in the hijack then check-raised to 17,000. Franklin called.

Both players checked on the {5-Spades} turn, but Franklin's opponent cut out a bet to 60,000 and slid it into the middle when the {6-Diamonds} completed the board.

Franklin went deep into the tank and thought about his decision for about five minutes before eventually finding a fold.

Moorman Lets It Go

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Chris Moorman opened to 6,500 from the lojack and was called by the player in the cutoff and the player in the big blind.

Action checked to Moorman on the {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop, and he continued for 7,500. Only his opponent in the cutoff called.

The {5-Diamonds} turn put four-to-a-straight on board and Moorman checked to his opponent, who flung a single lavender chip worth 5,000 into the middle. Moorman folded without much thought.

The massively-accomplished Moorman, who boasts more than $5 million in live tournament earnings and over $18 million in online tournament earnings according to thehendonmob.com, currently sits with about 155,000 in chips.

Anderson Sends One to The Rail With Quads

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The under-the-gun player opened to 6,000 and action folded around to the player in the cutoff, who shoved for their last 21,000. It was then folded to Francis Anderson in the big blind, who announced he was also all in for around 70,000. The initial raiser folded and hands were revealed.

Anderson: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Cutoff: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Anderson was a heavy favorite, and the {2-Spades}{5-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop left his opponent drawing nearly dead.

The {q-Hearts} sealed the deal in style, and a meaningless {9-Clubs} completed the board to eliminate Anderson's opponent.
