Affleck up Early

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

On a {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, it appeared Matt Affleck checked and a player in early position had bet 600 and was called by two players — one directly behind him and another on button.

Affleck then check-raised to 2,400 and was only called by the button.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs} and Affleck fired 4,000 into the middle. His opponent again called.

The {q-Clubs} completed the board and Affleck thought a while before betting 8,000. The button pondered his options but eventually let his hand go.

MSPT

Today will be everyone’s last chance to move onto Day 2 of the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour $1,600 ($2M GTD) Main Event, as Day 1c marks the third and final Day 1 of the tournament. The field is expected to be the biggest thus far and add to the combined 979 entries from Days 1a and 1b.

Eric Baldwin is the overall chip leader so far after bagging 645,500 on Day 1b. Not too far behind him is Day 1a chip leader Osmin Dardon with 618,000 in chips.

Other notables who have already secured a spot in Day 2 include Faraz Jaka, Andrew Moreno, Ralph Perry, Justin Young and Joseph Cheong.

Play is set to begin at 11:10 a.m. local time. Players will begin with 30,000 in chips and levels will be 40-minutes long. Blinds will begin at 100/100 and a big-blind ante will be introduced at the start of level four (200/300/300). Players will get 15-minute breaks at the end of every three levels and an hour-long dinner break at the end of level nine.

Late registration will be available until dinner break has ended and players will have the option re-enter an unlimited amount of times before then. Fifteen levels are scheduled to be played, which means action will conclude at around 11 p.m. The surviving players will bag and tag their chips and advance to Sunday's Day 2. Play will be nine-handed as tables no longer have dividers on them.

Stick with PokerNews as we bring you the action and round out the last of three starting days here at the MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event!
