The 96 entrants has already toppled the 88 that took part in last years event and it was Steve Karp who ended the day as the chip leader with 152,700 in chips. Karp took a big pot against Eugenio Castaneda with set over set to move into the chip lead and he never looked back after that point.

PPC Pro Joe Serock has had incredicle success at this event winning it in 2012 and taking third in the 2013 event. Serock was steady throughout the day and ended up bagging 76,100 in chips.

Ronnie Bardah came into the tournament area today with a banner congratulating him on the record he set at this years World Series of Poker Main Event for cashing five consecutive years. Bardah would be eliminated shortly before the last level of the night started and will have to return for Day 1b tomorrow.

Sports radio personality John Auville flopped quad kings to crack aces and ended the day with 54,100 in chips. Other notables to move on to Day 2 included WSOP bracelet winner Joe Ebanks (112,600), PPC North American Championship winner Nick Mann (76,400), Jesse Chinni (75,300), Patrick Murphy (36,700), Catherine Dee (48,300) and Eugenio Castaneda (67,400).

Baize Wins Four-Way Pot

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A player in middle position opened for 2,400 and Michael Baize called from the cutoff. The two players in the blinds called as well and the flop came {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Spades}. It was checked to Baize who put out a bet of 5,000 which led to three quick folds from his opponents. Baize flipped over {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and said "I was praying for a flop like that."

Who said prayers never get answered? Baize is sitting in 11th place in the Player of the Year race with a third place finish in the PPC North America Championship this past July for $25,210.

John Ott Busted

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

John Ott got his money in good with {Q-}{Q-} against his opponent's {J-}{J-} but the flop of {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} had him drawing to a straight and two queens to stay alive. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river was the {7-Spades} and the frustrated Ott, who has two wins in PPC Tour events this year, was eliminated and left muttering expletives under his breath. Ott is sitting in second in the Player of the Year race and will need to play tomorrow if he wants to catch the leader, Parry Shaw.
