The 2014 PPC Aruba World Championship $2,200 Main Event final table has been set, and over the last few hands of the evening, Aristoteles Neto surged into the chip lead with 763,000 in chips after winning two big pots against Freed Pashaj.
Sitting in second place with 519,000 was Josh Kay, who had the good fortune to crack Adam Macmillan's aces with to burst the bubble.
Then, in third with 461,000 in chips was World Series of Poker bracelet winner Joe Ebanks. The young pro not only took out Joe Serock earlier in the day, but he also had the good fortune of cracking aces, doing so with . Joining those three at the final table will be John Ott (373,000), Ryan Franklin (325,000), and Day 1 chip leader Steve Karp (155,000).
The remaining 10 players have all locked up a minimum of $5,283 in prize money, but it's the $72,163 for first place that they'll be looking to take down when they come back on Tuesday at 1 p.m. local time here in Aruba. Two big hands went down that saw Aristoteles Neto move into the chip lead right before the players bagged for the night. In the first hand, Jimmy Pashaj opened for a raise pre-flop and was called by Neto out of the big blind.
The flop came and Neto check-raised to 46,000 after Pashaj bet 18,000. The turn was the and Neto led out for 70,000 and was called by Pashaj. The river was the and both players checked. "Queen-jack," said Neto as he turned over . That was good enough as Pashaj mucked his hand.
A few moments later, Neto called bets of 17,000 on the flop and 42,000 on the turn and would take down the pot when Pashaj checked behind on the board. Pashaj held for ace high but Neto had for the smallest pair possible.
A short-stacked Tim Shortell moved all in first to act for 45,000 and Josh Kay made the call out of the big blind. Shortell had and Kay .
The flop came giving Kay a pair of fours but he was still behind Shortell's tens. The turn was the adding a flush draw to Kay's outs. He would hit that flush on the river when it came the .
