Aristoteles Neto leads into Day 3
Aristoteles Neto leads into Day 3

The 2014 PPC Aruba World Championship $2,200 Main Event final table has been set, and over the last few hands of the evening, Aristoteles Neto surged into the chip lead with 763,000 in chips after winning two big pots against Freed Pashaj.

Sitting in second place with 519,000 was Josh Kay, who had the good fortune to crack Adam Macmillan's aces with {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs} to burst the bubble.

Then, in third with 461,000 in chips was World Series of Poker bracelet winner Joe Ebanks. The young pro not only took out Joe Serock earlier in the day, but he also had the good fortune of cracking aces, doing so with {8-}{4-}. Serock was joined at the rail by such notables as Mark Kroon, Chris Bolek, Nick Mann, Parry Shaw, and Jesse Chinni.

Joining those three at the final table will be John Ott (373,000), Ryan Franklin (325,000), and Day 1 chip leader Steve Karp (155,000).

The remaining 10 players have all locked up a minimum of $5,283 in prize money, but it's the $72,163 for first place that they'll be looking to take down when they come back on Tuesday at 1 p.m. local time here in Aruba. PokerNews will be here from start to finish to bring you all the bust outs and exciting action so make sure to tune in then.

Neto Takes Two Big Pots From Pashaj to Take Chip Lead

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Two big hands went down that saw Aristoteles Neto move into the chip lead right before the players bagged for the night. In the first hand, Jimmy Pashaj opened for a raise pre-flop and was called by Neto out of the big blind.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Neto check-raised to 46,000 after Pashaj bet 18,000. The turn was the {3-Spades} and Neto led out for 70,000 and was called by Pashaj. The river was the {A-Diamonds} and both players checked. "Queen-jack," said Neto as he turned over {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. That was good enough as Pashaj mucked his hand.

A few moments later, Neto called bets of 17,000 on the flop and 42,000 on the turn and would take down the pot when Pashaj checked behind on the {J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} board. Pashaj held {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for ace high but Neto had {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for the smallest pair possible.

Tim Shortell Eliminated in 11th Place ($5,283)

Tim Shortell - 11th place

A short-stacked Tim Shortell moved all in first to act for 45,000 and Josh Kay made the call out of the big blind. Shortell had {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Kay {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

The flop came {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} giving Kay a pair of fours but he was still behind Shortell's tens. The turn was the {2-Hearts} adding a flush draw to Kay's outs. He would hit that flush on the river when it came the {K-Hearts}. Shortell shook his head knowing he was eliminated in 11th place. The tournament staff is now consolidating to one table and they will play to the end of this level (22:23 remaining).

We got to the table with a board of {Q-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Steve Karp bet enough to set a short-stacked Kai Hills all in. Hills seemed resigned to calling and did so with {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Karp held {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. The turn was the {K-Hearts} giving Hills a few more outs but the river was the {4-Spades} and he would be eliminated in 12th place for $5,283.

Pamela Wilson could never get anything going once they made the money and with a short stack she moved all in from the small blind after Jimmy Pashaj had limped in from the cutoff. Joe Ebanks made the call out of the big blind and Pashaj folded.

Wilson had {6-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Ebanks {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. The board would run out {A-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Wilson was unable to improve. She was eliminated in 13th place for $4,350.
