A flurry of action over the past 15 minutes. Aristoteles Neto has taken the chip lead with 245,000 in chips. He is sitting at the same table as Parry Shaw and Cong Le who tangled in a pot that saw Le double up with against Shaw's . A queen would come on the flop to remove any sweat.
We didn't witness the hands but both Nick Mann, the 2014 PPC North American Main Event winner, and Chris Bolek, PPC Pro, have been eliminated. There are 29 players remaining.
Joe Ebanks opened and a short-stacked Joe Serock moved all in for a little more than 10 big blinds. Ebanks made the call with and was racing against Serock's . According to Ebanks, Serock stood up and said "good game" before the flop came. It was a psychic premonition as the flop came with a queen and gave Ebanks a flush draw as well. Serock was drawing to one out and it wouldn't come. All in all though Aruba has treated Serock nicely as he won this event in 2012 and took third in last year's Main Event.
Ebanks is looking to replicate the success he had last year when he was the eventual runner-up. He currently sits with one of the bigger stacks in the room with 195,000 in chips.
Ted Ely started the day with just a little more than 60,000 in chips. He's bumped that up considerably as he becomes one of the first players to top the 200,000 chip mark.
Also at Ely's table is Tim Shortell who has the distinction of winning a PPC Aruba package in 2013 when he finished second at the PPT Fort Pierce Poker Open and this year when he finished third at the PPT Fort Piece Spring Poker Classic.
A player in middle position opened for 5,400 and it was folded to Mark Kroon in the small blind who made it 16,700 to go. The big blind released and the original raiser put in a minimum reraise which Kroon called while stating "I check dark."
The flop came and Kroon's opponent put out a bet of 17,000. Kroon looked away and then casually tossed in the call. The turn was the and both players checked.
The river was the and Kroon led out for 32,000. His opponent tanked, his head resting on his hand lightly. It would be for most of his stack as he had approximately 50,000 behind. He decided against making the call and released his hand. Kroon moved up to approximately 170,000 with that pot.
