Kisacikoglu Sends Cates to the Rail

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Orpen Kisacikoglu
Orpen Kisacikoglu

Dan Cates opened to 7,000 from the cutoff and picked up no fewer than three callers behind in Orpen Kisacikoglu on the button, Alan Sass in the small blind and Stephen Chidwick on the big blind. The flop fell {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and all four players checked.

After the {10-Clubs} turn, Cates bet 15,500 and Kisacikoglu raised it up to 44,000, which Sass called and Chidwick folded. Cates moved all in for around 220,000 and Kisacikoglu jammed over the top for 234,200 to force a fold from Sass.

Cates flipped over {9-Spades}{8-Spades} and was drawing dead against the {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} of Kisacikoglu. Once the stacks were verified, Paul Phua asked "Finished? Re-entry now or tomorrow? to which Cates replied "now is a bad idea" before leaving the tournament area.

The flop fell {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Aldemir checked to Torbergsen, who continued for 25,000.

Fast Doubles Through Jetten

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Dietrich Fast
Dietrich Fast

Dietrich Fast defended out of the small blind against a raise by Peter Jetten and check-called a continuation bet on the {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop. On the {10-Spades} turn, Fast's check-raise saw his stack of 97,600 go into the middle of the table and Jetten looked him up with the superior stack.

Dietrich Fast: {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Peter Jetten: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

The {K-Diamonds} on the river was no threat for Fast and he doubled.

Cates Grinds up a Profit

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Not long ago Dan Cates was all in and at risk for a mere 20 big blinds but the American poker pro and former Triton champion has grinded his way back above the starting stack.

Julian Thomas raised to 7,000 and was called by Christian Christner on the button, Cates called in the big blind. The trio checked through a flop of {J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} and the {A-Hearts} turn. On the {9-Spades} river, Cates checked and Thomas bet 12,000. That forced out Christner, but Cates had other plans and check-raised to 57,000.

"I have no pair," Thomas grinned and folded. Shortly after, Jamie Kaplan sat down one table over to make it 34 entries in total.

Tang's Stack is Shrinking

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The current shortest stack of the remaining 30 players belongs to Devan Tang and he was spotted with an open-raise to 7,000 from early position. Peter Jetten in the small blind called and checked the {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop. Tang continued for 8,000 and Jetten called.

However, after the {8-Diamonds} turn and the {Q-Hearts} river, both players ended up checking and Jetten rolled over the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} in order to chip up slightly.

Near Triple Up for Cates; Big Double for Schillhabel

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Dan Cates
Dan Cates

On the three-way flop of {9-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}, Patrik Antonius bet 25,000 into Dan Cates and Stephen Chidwick and the former moved all in for just 46,100, whilc Chidwick moved all in over the top. Antonius folded and said in table chat he had pocket queens.

Dan Cates: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Stephen Chidwick: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The {9-Clubs} turn and {10-Clubs} river further improved Cates to a full house and he nearly tripled up. Paul Phua double checked with Antonius whether or not he really folded queens and the Finn replied "I am a tight player."

One table over, a massive double for Stefan Schillhabel took place while Jason Koon's cards were already in the muck. Schillhabel had doubled for massive 269,900 with the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} on a board of {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and it was confirmed by Steffen Sontheimer as to what happened.

According to Sontheimer, Mikhail Smirnov had raised, Schillhabel three-bet and Koon cold four-bet with pocket queens out of the big blind. Smirnov folded and Schillhabel five-bet jammed to win a big flip on his second bullet.

More for Badziakouski

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

On the turn of a board {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, Gabe Patgorski in the small blind bet 50,000 into a pot of around 60,000 and Mikita Badziakouski called from the hijack. Both players checked the {6-Clubs} river and Patgorski sighed before revealing his {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a busted gutshot and flush draw.

Badziakouski raked in the pot with the {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Devan Tang joked "another diamond ..." to which Patgorski replied "what about a nine?"

At one of the other outer tables, Stefan Schillhabel check-called a bet of 16,500 by Isaac Haxton on the {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} turn and the {5-Clubs} river brought no betting action. Schillhabel rolled over the {A-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for aces and sixes, which won the pot right there.
