Record-Breaking 60 Pairs Confirmed For Asia's First $200k Triton Invitational

Triton Invitational
Triton Invitational

Triton's flagship $200k Invitational tournament, which combines Pros and Invitees, will be the largest-ever on its first visit to Asia when cards are in the air on September 12-14.

During the seat draw ceremony, Triton confirmed the numbers had smashed the 48 pairings that came in the most Triton Invitational in Montenegro in May, with 60 pairs set to take their seats when action gets underway at Les A Casino tomorrow.

Triton CEO Andy Wong described the numbers as a "sensational achievement," adding: "the Triton Invitational has huge appeal across Triton's player base. The Invitees love it because it gives them the best chance to compete on a level playing field...the pros are similarly keen to play as it introduces them to so many new opponents who play poker purely for fun and the spirit of competition."

You can follow all the action from the Triton Invitational when play gets underway from Jeju Shinhwa World on Saturday by following the Triton live stream, Triton Plus Poker app, or for the first time with live reporting from PokerNews!

Phil Ivey Eliminated in 7th Place ($271,000)

Back-to-back final tables for Phil Ivey who pairs up with Paul Phua for tomorrow's $200k Invitational tournament, but exited in 7th on the final day of the $50k NLH.

Nick Petrangelo raised to 500,000 and Ivey moved all-in for 3,300,000. Petrangelo called.

Phil Ivey: 9♥9♣All in
Nick Petrangelo: J♠J♦

Ivey was dominated but stranger things have happened than nines cracking jacks. It was a monotone runout but the wrong suit for Ivey as all the spades came K♠7♠6♠Q♠10♣, handing Petrangelo the flush on the turn and the scalp of possibly the greatest player of all time at the final table.

Eelis Parssinen Eliminated in 8th Place ($200,000)

A $200,000 score for the PLO specialist Eelis Parssinen as he exits the final table of the $50k NLH to Yang Wang.

Parssinen raised from early position to 950,000, leaving just 25,000 behind, and Wang was the only caller. The flop came 5♦10♠3♣ and after Parssinen checked, Wang bet 200,000 and the Finn called for his tournament life.

Eelis Parssinen: A♥7♣All in
Yang Wang: Q♠Q♦

Parssinen had already missed the flop, meaning Wang was well in front going to the last two cards. The turn K♦ and 3♠ river missed too, and Parssinen made his way to the payout desk.

Lonis Leads the Turbo Before Reg Closes

Jesse Lonis
Jesse Lonis

Jesse Lonis has taken a big lead in the one-day $30k NLH Turbo in the last level before registration closes. We're expecting a lot of late entries to this one, so the field could grow rapidly, but if so Lonis will certainly have some ammunition to go to battle with.

Yoko Sasaki Eliminated in 9th Place ($155,000)

Yoko Sasaki
Yoko Sasaki

Yoko Sasaki has already enjoyed several deep runs this series, but today's in the $50k has come to an end in 9th place at the hands of Nick Petrangelo.

Wai Kiat Lee raised to 300,000, before Sasaki shoved for 750,000, and so did Petrangelo for 5,200,000. Lee got out the way.

Yoko Sasaki: 9♥9♣All in
Nick Petrangelo: 10♦10♣

Sasaki found herself dominated by Petrangelo's pocket tens, and a standard runout of 4♥2♠7♣J♦J♥ meant it stayed that way, as the Japanese player was sent to the rail with another fantastic run under her belt.
