John Lawson Eliminated in 5th Place (£8,020)

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
John Lawson
John Lawson

John Lawson, a local taxi driver, has bust in fifth place at the hands of the seemingly unstoppable Paren Arzoomanian.

Arzoomanian raised to 80,000 and then called when Lawson three-bet all-in for 600,000. The chip leader flipped over {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Lawson the {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. A final board reading {J-Spades}{K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} sent Lawson to the rail to a round of applause from his former table mates and the Isle of Man residents playing in the side events that are running alongside the Main Event.

Arzoomanian Hits Two Pair

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Daniel Stacey raised to 60,000 under the gun and picked up callers in Michael Fletcher (button) and Paren Arzoomanian (small blind). "You pricing me in now" John Lawson in the big blind said, but he folded nonetheless.

Arzoomanian checked on {J-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} and initial raiser Stacey checked behind. Fletcher bet out 75,000 and just Arzoomanian called, Stacey folded. Arzoomanian and Fletcher both checked the {9-Diamonds} on the turn and the {10-Clubs} completed the board. Arzoomanian bet out 255,000 and received a quick call.

Arzoomanian showed {9-Clubs}{J-Spades} for two pair, Fletcher mucked.

John Lawson

Paren Arzoomanian opened for 60,000 under the gun and John Lawson in the cutoff shoved for 350,000 exactly. Action folded back to Lawson, and he called upon hearing how much it was.

"You probably dominate me" said Arzoomanian as he showed {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

"I'm two ahead of you!" Lawson replied, showing {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and despite a little sweat on the turn, Lawson doubled without too much trouble.

Arzoomanian Wins His Chips Back

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Daniel Stacey min-raised to 60,000 and faced a three-bet to 165,000 from Paren Arzoomanian. Stacey pushed a stack of blue 5,000 chips forwards to make the call.

Arzoomanian continued with a 150,000 bet on the {K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop, a bet that Stacey called. A second barrel was fired, a 300,000 bet, on the {Q-Diamonds} turn and Stacey let his hand go.

Lawson and Stacey Attack Arzoomanian

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

He may have the biggest stack of the five remaining players but that's not stopping Paren Arzoomanian's opponents from taking him on.

In back-to-back hands, Arzoomanian opened to 60,000 and then folded to an all-in bet of 380,000 from John Lawson, then the following hand saw Arzoomanian raise to 60,000 and duck out of the way when Daniel Stacey three-bet to 157,000.

Chris Swinden

Christopher Swinden opened the hijack for 77,000 and Daniel Stacey on the button three bet to 175,000. Both blinds folded and Swinden called rather quickly.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Swinden moved in for 364,000. Stacey wasted no time calling.

Daniel Stacey: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Christopher Swinden: {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

Swinden needed a queen or jack, and he needed one fast. It wasn't meant to be in the end, as the {3-Hearts} popped up on the turn and the {7-Hearts} hit the river.

Swinden shook hands with the players at the table, and was congratulated by the floor on his deep run. The local hero, who finished Day 1b as the chip leader, out in 6th place for £6,120. The remaining 5 players are now guaranteed £8,020.

Swinden Scores a Double

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Christopher Swinden has more room to play now that he's doubled his stack to 400,000.

Swinden pushed all-in for 188,000 and John Lawson called from the sea to his immediate left. Swinden flipped over {K-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and was up against Lawson's {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

Lawson paired his queen on the {7-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop then picked up a flush draw when the {6-Clubs} made an appearance on the turn. The river was the {10-Hearts}, keeping Swinden's hand best and he doubled to 400,000, while Lawson's stack was cut to a similar size.
