Verbon Busts Schuurbiers in Copenhagen Deja VU

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Wouter Schuurbiers moved all in for 30,600 from the cutoff and Niko Koop called from one seat over before Tim Verbon reraised to 70,000, isolated successfully.

Schuurbiers: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Verbon: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}

"Oh no, Copenhagen all over again. Aces versus queens." The Belgian apparently busted in a previous Unibet Open in exactly the same constellation for the chip lead pot on the last two tables and sure enough it happened again.

The flop came {Q-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} and neither the {9-Diamonds} turn nor the {9-Spades} river saved the Belgian anymore. "I never gonna play aces again at the Unibet Open," Schuurbiers joked and left the tournament area.

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Tamaico Boers
Tamaico Boers

Half a dozen players joined the rail and among them were also Philip Meulyzer, Pascal Vos and Tamasico Boers.

Vos ran with pocket eights into {A-}{Q-} and Boers first doubled up before losing his next two all ins. The final hand saw him short with {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and dominated by an opponent with {J-}{9-}.

Quentin Lecomte Eliminated

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Quentin Lecomte
Quentin Lecomte

One of the two remaining former Unibet Open champions has hit the rail. In the previous hand, Quentin Lecomte had a lucky split pot with {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} versus {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} on a board of {7-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts} and then got it in with {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} against the {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} of Jessy Marillaud.

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and that was it for the Frenchman.

Luske Doubles Through Peters

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske

Tobias Peters opened from the hijack and Marcel Luske called on the button to see a flop of {4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. A continuation bet of Peters was called and the {Q-Spades} came on the turn. Peters fired 13,700 and Luske moved all in for 83,300.

Some small talk between the two followed and the tournament staff reminded them to keep the small talk clean. Ultimately, Peters called with the {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and Luske turned over his {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a set. The blank {10-Spades} river put a huge dent into the stack of Peters and he fell all the way back to almost starting stack.

Baltus With Three Barrels

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

David Baltus defended his big blind against the raise of Alexandre Martins and check-raised the flop {Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{A-Hearts} to 15,000. Martins called and then called a second bet worth 15,000 on the {3-Hearts} turn. The {6-Hearts} came on the river and Baltus fired another 15,000. Martins didn't snap-call but was curios enough to toss in chips, then mucked when Baltus flashed {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

Yakovenko's Kings Cracked

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Micael Emanuelson raised from the cutoff and Oleksandr Yakovenko moved all in for 11 big blinds from one seat over. Robin Lacey called and Emanuelson folded, saying he had an ace and would have called if Lacey had folded.

Yakovenko: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Lacey: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The Irishman spiked two pair on the flop {J-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Yakovenko didn't get there anymore as both the {7-Hearts} turn and {8-Spades} river were blanks.

Two Swedes on the Rail

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Stefan Mattsson, who was one of the chip leaders for most of Day 1a before blowing up in a big pot against Niki Koop, as well as Daniel Ulvrell have been eliminated. The latter ran with pocket kings into the pocket aces of fellow Swede Jonny Domstedt.

Rouben Busts to de Korver

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

The mission "first in the money at a Unibet Open" for poker pro Pieter de Korver has just been given a big boost. The Dutchman raised to 5,100 from under the gun and called the shove of David Rouben for more than 25 big blinds with the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Rouben was at risk with {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and failed to improve on a board of {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

Wyraz Busts with Kings

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

The first casualty of Day 2 is Grzegorz Wyraz. His raise from early position was called by Jorgen Jerneskog and the two saw a flop of {6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Wyraz continued for 6,600 and Jerneskod raised to 15,000 before the Pole shoved all in. Jerneskog quickly called and they turned them over:

Wyraz: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Jerneskog, {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

The board filled up with the {A-Diamonds} turn and {3-Spades} river to send Wyraz to the rail.
