Segers Doubles through Ritchie

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Gilles Segers
Gilles Segers

Gilles Segers ended up all in and at risk for the last 14,700 with {A-Spades}{J-Spades} and was dominated by Kyle Ritchie, who held the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. However, the board of {J-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} came to the rescue for Segers and he doubled to get back above starting stack, leaving his opponent with a mountain to climb.

Andrey “reynad” Yanyuk Wins esports Battle Royale XI

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Andrey Yanyuk
Andrey Yanyuk

For the 11th time, the Unibet Open have hosted a special nine-handed SNG for popular and well-known esports gamers and it was Andrey “reynad” Yanyuk that scooped the title and payday of €4,700. A total of €10,000 was up for grabs and the SNG usually pays out the top three spots, however, a lengthy bubble period saw all four remaining players agree to take €300 off each payout from the top three and ensure €900 for the fourth-place finisher.

Lisa “STPeach” Vannatta became the first female gamer to cash in an esport SNG as part of the Unibet Open and she was followed by Alan “Hotted89” Widmann in third place. Scott “Sco” McMillan had already won the nine-max format previously and held a commanding lead over Andrey "reynad" Yanyuk in heads-up, but this time it wasn't meant to be for Sco who had to settle for the runner-up spot in the early morning hours.

Rink Doubles Through Sinclair

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Emil Brunnberg raised it up to 2,600 in the cutoff and Jack Sinclair three-bet to 7,000 on the button. Mark Rink then four-bet all in and Brunnberg folded after brief consideration. Sinclair asked for a count and gave it one minute to call once it was determined to be for 28,500 in total.

Mark Rink: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Jack Sinclair: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

"I had ace-jack suited also," Brunnberg said in table chat and Sinclair replied with a dry "thanks." The {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop was a big sweat for Rink as Sinclair picked up a flush draw, but the {7-Spades} turn and {6-Spades} river brought no upset to let the Dutchman double.

Another One for Mellanen

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Ana Raluca Bulboaca has taken over the chip lead on table three and next in line are Elias Vaaraniemi, Kasper Mellanen, and Simon Hemsworth. Mellanen just raised in the cutoff and was called only by Zhiqiang Liu in the small blind. The duo checked the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} flop and Liu check-called a bet worth 4,500 on the {3-Diamonds} turn.

After the {10-Spades} river, Liu checked once more and Mellanen's bet of 14,000 did the trick to win the pot without showdown.

Mellanen Busts Corbjin

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Kasper Mellanen raised to 2,500 and was called two ways by Mark Buckley in the cutoff and Jordi Corbjin on the button. The trio checked through the {Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop and then invested 4,200 each on the {Q-Diamonds} turn, it was Buckley that had bet and received two calls.

On the {9-Diamonds} river, action checked to Corbjin and he bet 11,500, prompting a shove from Mellanen. Buckley quickly folded and Corbjin called to get shown {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} by Mellanen for a full house on the river. Corbjin had flopped best with {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades} but ended up with the inferior full house. The stacks were counted and Corbjin was covered to join the rail, the table broke up right after.

Two Bustouts and a Double

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Kevin Mathers sent Gabor Csire to the rail and boosted his stack up further and Michael Tucknott did so one table over after taking on Martin Olali.

The remainder of Olali's stack went in preflop with the {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and Tucknott had the slightly inferior kicker in {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}. However, the {J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop vaulted Tucknott into the lead and he stayed there on the {6-Hearts} turn and {3-Clubs} river runout.

A severely short-stacked Markus Lehtinen shoved for just 7,100 and was called by Jan Marcus Ohman from one seat over. Lehtinen held the {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Ohman had one over card with {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The board came {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{J-Spades}{K-Clubs} and Lehtinen doubled.
