There was a large pot brewing between Mauro Dantas and USDO Cup winner Gabriel Villar Montes on Table #12.
There was around 17,000 on the middle on the 7♦6♣4♣ flop.
Cards were on their backs, with Montes showing 7♥4♥ from the small blind for two pair. Dantas was on the button with 8♣8♦.
Montes had a stack of around 62,000 with Dantas having 79,000.
The Q♣ kept Montes ahead, but Dantas picked up a flush draw.
The 3♣ completed the board to give Dantas the checkmark and send the opening event winner to the rail.
Montes captured the UDSO Cup for 200,000 MAD (~€19,000). The triumph was especially moving as it marked his return to the felt following a heart attack suffered in Las Vegas earlier this summer.

Bernard Guigon, who bagged a stack of 58,000 last night but opted to surrender, was all in for his last 6,500 from the button. Valenzian0 reshoved for around 28,000 from the small blind, which got rid of Rayane Bouieb in the big blind.
Bernard Guigon: A♦10♠
Valenzian0: A♠Q♠
Valenzian0 made fours full of queens on the Q♦4♣4♦4♥2♦ runout to see of Guigon. Does the latter now regret his decision about declaring his Day 1a stack?
On the next deal, Valenzian0 raised to 2,400 and then four-bet jammed after Bouieb made it 10,000. Bouieb called as the bigger stack.
Valenzian0: 9♣9♥
Rayane Bouieb: A♣Q♠
The nines remained ahead after the K♦J♦J♥ flop but the A♥ turn put Bouieb in the lead with a pair of the aces. The 4♠ completed the board and it was easy come, easy go for Valenzian0.

Sandro Alves opened from under the gun and called the 11,000 all-in from Jean-Marc Ducimetiere, who was on his direct left.
Jean-Marc Ducimetiere: A♣5♥
Sandro Alves: 6♠5♠
Ducimetiere had Alves dominated and he collected a drama-free double up as the board ran out with the Q♠10♦2♥2♦J♥.
On the next deal, Ducimetiere opened to 2,200 from under the gun and had four callers.
The action checked to Abdelkarim Mahieddine on the 6♣5♥2♠ flop, and he bet 7,700 from middle position. TA_Michel called from the hijack before Claude Mamalepot made it 20,000. Alves, Ducimetiere and Mahieddine folded, while TA_Michel stuck around.
TA_Michel check-folded to a bet of 21,500 on the A♣ turn, preserving his 120,000 stack. Meanwhile, Mamalepot hit the 175,000 mark.

Karim Azzouz made a big opening raise to 6,300 from middle position. However, that didn't frighten Nadir Meraly Manji, who called from the hijack.
Azzouz sized up to 12,000 on the A♦6♠3♣ flop and Manji engaged in a bit of speech play.
"I guess you have ace-king," said Manji, who toyed with his chips.
Azzouz then began listing off other hands he could have, as Manji continued to mull over his options. The latter ended up folding and Azzouz offered him a card to flip over.
Manji was pleased to see he picked the A♣, and the next hand began.

Abdelmalik Farahi raised from the hijack and called when Mayis Birdemir made it 10,500 from the cutoff.
The Q♣J♦4♥ flop checked through to the 6♥ turn. Farahi bet 10,500 and was called.
Farahi checked on the 8♠ river and Birdemir fired out 35,000.
Farahi wasn't thrilled but decided to call anyway, handing chips to his opponent.
Birdemir immediately kissed his teeth in frustration and tabled 10♠10♦. Farahi had that beat as he had a pair of jacks with his J♠7♠.
