Peters Doubles Through Pollak

Level 12 : 3,500/7,000, 7,000 ante

We didn't catch the action but arrived at the table to see Benjamin Pollak paying off David Peters. The board read {9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and in front of Peters lay the {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for two pair. Pollak was bested with his {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} failing to find a heart, trips, or make a better two pair on the river.

Pollak was left with just 9,500 and busted on the next hand.

Hellmuth Nearly Traps Himself

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Sean Winter raised to 14,000 from under the gun and Barry Woods three-bet to 38,000 from the cutoff. Phil Hellmuth just called out of the small blind, leaving himself with only 13,000 behind. Winter also made the call and they went three-ways to the flop of {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}.

The action checked around to the {j-Clubs} on the turn and Hellmuth stuck in his last few chips. Winter called while Woods tossed his cards. Hellmuth tabled {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and Winter showed {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a gut-shot straight draw. The river brought the {4-Spades} and Hellmuth was able to nearly triple his stack.

"Should have bet the flop, he probably would have folded," Daniel Negreanu said to Winter as they both laughed.

Smith Finds a Lucky Double Up

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

David Peters raised it up to 13,500 on the button and was called by Jake Schindler in the small blind. Dan Smith was in the big blind and shipped all in for 131,000. Peters re-shoved over the top, forcing Schindler to lay his hand down.

Dan Smith: {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
David Peters: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Peters was in a dominating position until the dealer spread the flop of {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. That left Smith in the driver's seat and with the {2-Spades} on the turn and the {9-Clubs} on the river, Smith doubled up and left Peters with under 20 big blinds.

Chidwick Doubles Through Katz

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Cary Katz limped in from middle position and Stephen Chidwick bumped it up to 22,500 on the button. Action folded back around to Katz who set down a big stack of 5,000 chips totaling about 100,000 only to see Chidwick move all-in for 118,500. Katz put in the rest to put the US Poker Open money leader at risk.

Stephen Chidwick: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Cary Katz: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Unfortunately, for Katz, Chidwick woke up with a monster and scored an easy double with a {5-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} run out.

Here's a look at how the table stacks up:

Leathem Lays One Down

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

With a little under 40,000 in the middle, the flop read {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and the action was checked to Daniel Negreanu on the button. He bet 10,000 and was called by Sean Winter in the small blind and Andrew Leathem in the big blind.

The turn brought the {5-Hearts} and both of the blinds checked again. Negreanu fired another 37,000 as he casually took a bite of his food. Winter quickly folded but Leathem stuck around to see the {a-Clubs} on the river.

Leathem checked for the third time and Negreanu pushed forward a bet of 60,000. Leathem went into the tank, using up a time extension, before finally mucking his hand.

"Did you fold a king? I have at least that," as Negreanu flashed the {k-Spades} to the table.

Chidwick Shoves on Tollerene

Level 10 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Ben Tollerene opened to 11,000 from the cutoff and Stephen Chidwick defended his big blind. The flop fell {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Chidwick checked to Tollerene who continued for 10,000. Chidwick went for a check-raise to 27,000 but that didn't scare Tollerene off as he made the call.

The {10-Diamonds} landed on the turn and Chidwick took a little over a minute before shoving all in. Tollerene wasted little time before sending his cards to the muck as Chidwick raked in the pot.
