Triton Million at WSOP Paradise Set to Begin with a Star-Studded Field

WSOPP
WSOPP

The second edition of the World Series of Poker Paradise is officially underway, and all eyes are on the highly anticipated Event #2: Triton Million— a premier high-stakes tournament created in partnership between the Triton Poker Series and the WSOP. Action is set to begin on December 7 at 12:00 p.m. local time, at Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas. This marks the inaugural event featuring the Triton Poker Series at the WSOP, setting the stage for an unforgettable poker experience. With a staggering $1 million buy-in, the tournament will bring together an exclusive group of invitees from Triton, each of whom has personally selected a top-tier poker professional, who will contribute $500,000 each.

The tournament will feature a field of 74 players, with Triton selecting 37 elite invitees, each paired with one of the world’s top poker professionals. The structure of this event is unique, as the invitees and their poker pros will initially compete in separate fields on Day 1, before the remaining players merge for Day 2.

The Pairings

As this highly anticipated event draws nearer, Triton has been unveiling the pairings in waves throughout the week. The first wave of players included Ossi Ketola, who invited Poker Hall of Famer Patrik Antonius; Triton fan favorite Santhosh Suvarna, who selected poker pro Nick Petrangelo; and, headlining the group, Malaysian businessman Paul Phua, who invited 11-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey.

Wave two revealed that Chance Kornuth will make his Triton debut, having been invited by Brandon Steven. On the other end of the spectrum, several regular poker pros from the Triton Series will join Kornuth in the field. Stephen Chidwick was invited by Alfred Decarolis while Seth Davies will compete after being invited by Chalie Hook.

The jaw-dropping pairings continued in wave three, with confirmation that Vinny Lingham invited the 2023 Ivan Leow Triton Poker Player of the Year, Jason Koon. Also joining the field is high-stakes crusher Fedor Holz, who was invited by Jessica Teusl. However, it was the announcement of Hustler Casino Live owner and producer Ryan Feldman inviting Poker Hall of Famer and seven-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu that had the poker world buzzing. Negreanu, who is also making his Triton debut, adds even more star power to an already remarkable lineup.

Just two days before the Triton Million was set to begin, the fourth wave of announcements revealed that Eric Wasserson had invited Nick Schulman, Rob Yong had selected Mikita Badziakouski, and Phillip Nagy extended an invite to Nacho Barbero.

The final wave of announcements revealed Sosia Jiang inviting Isaac Haxton, Michael Addamo, who had campaigned on social media for a spot, was invited by Yoshiaki Paco, and all-time tournament earnings leader Bryn Kenney secured his seat thanks to Sirzat Hissou. Initially, the field was set to consist of 35 pairs, but a couple of last-minute additions brought the total to 37, adding even more star power. Michael Moncek invited Shaun Deeb, while James Hopkins extended an invite to Alex Foxen, ensuring their places in the year's biggest buy-in event.

As mentioned earlier, the players in this event will be separated into two groups: the invitees and the pros on Day 1. The players gathered last night to reveal the seat draw, offering the poker world a glimpse of exciting matchups to look forward to. Each player will start with 1,000,000 in chips and begin with blind levels of 2,000/3,000, along with a 3,000 big blind ante. The players will complete 10 levels of 50 minutes each on Day 1, with a 15-minute break after every two levels. This is a one reentry event, so if any player busts, they will have until the start of Day 2 to reenter.

Be sure to follow PokerNews for live updates and coverage throughout this event, and the entire WSOPP as there will be 15 gold bracelets given away throughout this series.
