Just before the break, we lost three more players. The lovely Maria Ho was eliminated in 43rd place, earning $32,740 that she can put towards the traffic ticket she received on her way here this morning. Nenad Medic and Jason DeWitt were eliminated in 42nd place and 41st place, respectively.
Our own Melissa Castello caught up with one of the game's more interesting characters in Teddy "The Iceman" Monroe during the last break. In the interview, Teddy expressed extreme confidence in his short-stack play and talks about his plans to play the Bay 101 Championship.

The pace of eliminations slowed considerably once the shortest of the short stacks busted during Level 1. We went about an hour without an elimination, but Jeff Garza, George Rahme and Matt Brady were recently eliminated in 46th, 45th and 44th places, respectively.

Al Barbieri
Something has Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri all wound up -- again -- at Table 33. He's leveled some talk of possible collusion, getting everyone at the table in a talkative mood. Greg Mueller came to the table and compared Barbieri to a wind-up toy as Barbieri bemoaned the lack of "rules" being enforced in the casino and suggested the tournament may as well be played in an alley.
"If we're playing this tournament in an alley, I've got my money on Teddy," said Haralabos Voulgaris, pointing at Teddy "Iceman" Monroe.
"Not in the alley I come from," retorted Barbieri.
"I've led a rough life," mused Monroe. "That's why I need a pain pill every now and then."
The next hand, Mike Sowers asked Barbieri, sitting in the big blind, how many chips he was playing. Barbieri's chips were all in a single, tall stack.
"About the size of my other thing," said Barbieri as he cut down his stack. "There's growers and there's showers."
Barbieri wound up taking a flop of with Peter Feldman. Barbieri checked and then called a bet of 15,000. On the turn , Barbieri moved in for 24,500. Feldman threw his hands up in disgust and folded.
"You don't call that?" Monroe asked Feldman. "Collusion!" he said, trying to get a rise out of Barbieri.
Barbieri dragged the pot but left the bait. "Must have had king-queen or something," he said.
