Darcourt Done

Guillaume Darcourt - Eliminated
Guillaume Darcourt - Eliminated

Guillaume Darcourt opened in early position, Idris Ambraisse three-bet on his direct left, and when the action folded back to Darcourt, he four-bet to 5,500. Ambraise five-bet jammed for just under 30,000, and Darcourt went into the tank.

While Darcourt was tanking, Ambraisse grabbed his seat card and tossed it in the middle with his chips, smiling. Darcourt eventually made the call, and was well ahead of Ambraisse.

Darcourt: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Ambraisse: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Darcourt's lead vanished quickly however, because the {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop hit Ambraisse right in the head. The {7-Clubs} on the turn gave Darcourt a flush draw, but the {k-Spades} on the river was no help, eliminating him from the tournament.

A Good Start

Tony G on Day 1a
Tony G on Day 1a

Tony G opened to 1,100 from early position, Kyle Julius called near the button, and the player in the big blind defended. The dealer fanned {k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and the player in the big blind checked. Tony G tossed out two yellow T1,000 chips, and only Julius called.

The turn was another seven - the {7-Hearts} - and Tony G led out for 3,000. Julius called.

The {a-Diamonds} completed the board, and Tony G quickly fired 4,000. Julius folded {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} face up, and Tony G flashed what appeared to be a black eight.

"Wanted you to make the flush," Tony G told Julius.

Jelassi Forces Two Out

Ramzi Jelassi
Ramzi Jelassi

Ramzi Jelassi opened to 700 from under the gun, a player in middle position called, and a third player defended his big blind. The flop fell {3-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}, the player in the big blind checked, and Jelassi continued for 1,400. The player in middle position raised to 3,000, the player in the big blind cold-called, and Jelassi called as well.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, all three players checked, and the {q-Clubs} completed the board. The player in the big blind checked a third time, Jelassi fired 6,800, and the player in middle position immediately folded.

The player in the big blind went into the tank. He cut out more than enough chips to make the call, re-stacked them, then began talking to himself in French. Eventually, he grimaced then folded, showing the {j-Diamonds}.

Jelassi mucked his hand facedown, and raked in the pot.
