Some New Faces on Day 1b

We anticipated that players that busted on Day 1a like Vanessa Selbst and Guillaume Darcout would rejoin us here on Day 1b, but there are some fresh new faces here as well.

We've recently spotted World Poker Tour Season VIII Player of the Year Faraz Jaka, and Darren Elias, who just won WCOOP Event #22 $10,000 NLHE last night.

Three-Barrel Buff from Rivet

Guillaume Rivet on Day 1a.
Guillaume Rivet on Day 1a.

Faced with an open, Guillaume Rivet three-bet to 800 in middle position. The action folded back to the orignal raiser, who called, and the dealer fanned {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. The player checked to Rivet, who continued for 800. The player called.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, and Rivet's opponent checked again. Rivet tossed out 2,550 in chips, announcing "2,150" in French, and his opponent again called.

The {10-Spades} completed the board, and the player checked a third time. Rivet grabbed a pink T5,000 chip, tossed a black T100 clip on top, and flipped forward 5,100. The player quickly called.

Rivet screwed up his face, and we believe he said "king-high." His opponent then turned over {6-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a pair of fives, and raked in the pot.

Mizrachi Takes a Hit, Still Above Starting Stack

The action folded to a player near the button, who raised to 250. Michael Mizrachi three-bet to 850 from the blinds, and the player made the call. The flop fell {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}, and both players checked. The turn was the {4-Hearts}, and Mizrachi led out for 1,500. His opponent called.

The river was a {3-}, and both players quickly checked. Mizrachi went to muck his hand, prompting his opponent to shoe {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for two pair and the pot.

Mizrachi has accumulated chips in the first half of the level however, and has more than the starting stack.

Day 1b Set to Start

What they're all playing for.
What they're all playing for.

It's a rainy day here in beautiful Paris, France, which isn't great for the toursits visiting the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, or the Notre Dame de Paris, but it's perfect weather for a €7,500 poker tournament.

Day 1b of the World Poker Tour Season XI Grand Prix de Paris will begin shortly here at the Aviation Club de France. Day 1a attracted 96 runners, 51 of which survived, and the chip leader is Jacques Enjoubault, who ended the day with 225,200 chips. He's not the only player with six figures however - Antony Lellouche (178,000), Basil Yaiche (142,475), and Pasi Heinanen (100,500) all finished with over 100,000 chips.

Among the players eliminated yesterday that we look forward to seeing again today are Tony G, Vanessa Selbst, Dan O'Brien, Will Failla, Aubin Cazals, Samuel Chartier, and Guillaume Darcourt.

The cards will be in the air in the next 20 minutes, so make sure to stay tuned for all of your up-to-the-minute updates!
