Rodoplu Gets Paid Twice

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Tayfun Rodoplu limped for 300 preflop and Andrei Stoenescu limped behind him before Ognjen Sekularac made it 1,200 in the next seat down. The {4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop was checked to Sekularac who bet 1,300 but Rodoplu and then Sekularac both called to see the {K-Spades} on the turn.

All three players now checked and Rodoplu led out for 2,000 on the {8-Spades} river, Stoenescu called and then so did Sekularac. Rodoplu flipped {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} - it was more than enough to make both the other players muck. Stoenescu and Sekularac discussed the hand afterwards, apparently they both held a king.

Topkyaka Tops Two

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Naj Abdo was all in on a flop of {5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} and Bans Topkyaka had called. Next to act Vladimir Troyanovskiy moved all in too and Topkyaka obviously had a decision to make. He pointed at the players in turn and said, “Flush draw, set.” After some brief thought though, he made the call.

Abdo had {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for top pair, Troyanovskiy had {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} for the over pair so Topkyaka was looking pretty good with his flopped set {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}. The last two cards were {q-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Turkish player Topkyaka claimed two victims in one fell swoop.

Rough Day for Naydenov

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Nothing seems to working for 2013 WSOP Bracelet winner Simeon Naydenov today. He’s looking a frustrated man, both with his opponents and how the cards are coming out.

Naydenov opened for 500 and called a raise to 1,500 from Iwan Postel who was directly to his left. The two players saw a flop of {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} and checked it so we went to the turn, {10-Diamonds}. A check from Naydenov and Postel now bet 1,800. Naydenov made the call. {8-Spades} on the river, a final check and Postal bet 2,200. Naydenov seemingly couldn’t let his hand go and perhaps curiosity got the better of him as he made the call. Postel turned over {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for the flopped set and Naydenov flicked his cards to the dealer as his chip stack lost a little bit more height.

Back in Black

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Serb Ognjen Sekularac has joined the tournament, sitting to the left of Andrei Stoenescu. Sergey Rybachenko, who busted in the last hand of the night to chip leader Alexey Rybin has also re-entered.

Lucky Number Seven?

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Seyed Ghavam opened for 500 and faced a raise from Evagoras Evagorou to 1,350. Ghavam made the call. The flop was {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Ghavam check called a bet of 1,500 from Evagorou. {10-Clubs} on the turn and Ghavam again calls, this time for 4,500. The river was the {4-Clubs}. A final check from Ghavam and Evagorou sat for a while considering whether a bet was the right option. He decided against and checked. Ghavam showed his {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Evagorou mucked with a disappointed nod.

Ghavam sure likes those sevens. Perhaps it’s his lucky number.
