Krause, But No Cigar

Andreas Krause just showed off a perfectly timed squeeze play from the big blind. One player had opened to 1,600 and he was called by Chino Rheem, Michael Mizrachi and the small blind before Krause Squeezed all in for about 38,000.

One by one the callers folded, the small blind apparently folding tens - Krause congratulated him on this and showed {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

Robert Mizrachi Flying High

The Mizrachi brothers are tearing up this tournament, especially Robert Mizrachi who is now sat being several towers of chips totaling 141,000.

We joined his table to hear him call Önder Özdemirler's all-in bet of 25,800 after a preflop raising battle between the pair.

Mizrachi turned over {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and was in a typical coinflip against the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} of Özdemirler. The {j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} flop was pretty final but the {k-Spades} turn did offer some hope to Özdemirler. However, the {2-Hearts} was not a river card that he wanted to see and Özdemirler headed for the exits.

Mizrachi is flying high.

Brandejs Triples Up

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Jan Brandejs opened to 1,225 from UTG+1 and picked up three callers. The first was Robert Peltekci (next to act), then Sam El Sayed came along for the ride in the cutoff and Anton Komarov called on the button.

The quartet saw the dealer fan out the {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop, a flop that Brandejs checked, Peltekci bet 3,600, El Sayed called and Komarov called! But that was not the end of the action because Brandejs then moved all-in for 11,750, Peltekci folded and El Sayed called! Still with us? Good! Komarov looked set to call but he eventually folded.

El Sayed:{A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Brandejs:{J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

El Sayed usually hits these combo draws for fun; but not today. The {7-Hearts} turn was followed by the {k-Hearts} river and Brandejs trebled up.

Blind Man's Bluff

According to tablemate Dominik Nitsche, Dimitris Lesnoy has been raising every hand blind, but the circus, as it were, has finally ended.

Lesnoy opened preflop with a minraise before Chino Rheem isolated to 4,000. Abou Saleh Elias then put in a cold four bet, at which point it's thought that Lesnoy did look at his hand and opted to flat-call, Rheem called as well to see a {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop.

We're unsure exactly how the action went but Lesnoy's remaining chips went in the middle and Rheem dwelt for ages before folding, Elias then snap-called and turned over {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

Lesnoy, "I'm about 8%..." he said, having a real hand this time with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

There was no help from the {5-Clubs} turn or {7-Spades} river and Lesnoy was eliminated.

Kim Continues To Climb

Kelly Kim and Robert Mizrachi
Kelly Kim and Robert Mizrachi

Kelly Kim has been on a real tear since the dinner break and now finds himself armed with 72,000 chips.

On a flop reading {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, Vitaliy Tolokonnikov bet 5,000 into a pot containing almost 7,200 chips and it gave Kim something to think about. He thought about how to play the hand for almost a minute before raising to 12,300. It did not take as long for Tolokonnikov to act, he folded rather quickly.

Kim continues his climb.

Going Kammando

A couple more exits for you now, first Majib Kammand went out after his {A-}{Q-} was no good versus the {6-}{6-} of Abou Saleh Elias after all the money went on the flop of a {Q-}{7-}{6-}{8-}{5-} board.

Elsewhere, Andrey Shatilov took out Maxime Reuter all-in preflop with {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} against the {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} with the board coming {K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{J-Spades}. "We were expecting aces versus kings," said an eyebrow raising tablemate.

Nitsche So Gut

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Dominik Nitsche has just lost a huge pot that, had it gone his way, would have seen the young German become the chip leader.

A preflop raising war broke out between Nitsche and Igor Gurskiy that resulted in the latter being all-in as Nitsche covered him by 42,000 chips.

Nitsche turned over {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and was in a whole world of trouble against the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} of Gurskiy. The {6-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} left Nitsche all but drawing dead and the {q-Diamonds} turn confirmed his chips would now belong to Gurskiy. The meaningless {6-Hearts} on the river completed the hand and Nitsche is back to grinding up his stack; although he does still have 42,000 chips.

Lynn Gilmartin spoke with Nitsche during yesterday's Day 1a about his history of running well in this region of the world. Let's see if he can maintain that in this Main Event.
