Russian Roulette

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Maxim Tyurin (Bugger, I've already done a Tyurin Shroud joke today) has been been eliminated after he was virtually all in preflop (only a few hundred was left behind) with {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} against Ruslan Aronov's {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} but the board came {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

That's one Russian down, a whole host more are left though.

Moorman Eliminated By Hajjar

Chris Moorman has never made it to the money places in a World Poker Tour event and his cashless streak has continued here in Cyprus as he has just been eliminated by Dori Hajjar.

We joined the action on a {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop; and what action it was! Hajjarhad bet 1,775 from early position and Moorman had raised it up to 4,575 from the button. Hajjar was sat pondering his next move, doing so whilst under the watchful gaze of Moorman. After 45 seconds, Hajjar took back his original bet and replaced it with 10 yellow chips worth a total of 10,000.

Moorman sat motionless for a few moments before counting his stack and then raising to 20,075 which left him with around 15,000 or so behind. Hajjar moved all-in and Moorman rechecked his cards and made the call.

Moorman: {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Hajjar: {A-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

The turn propelled Moorman into the lead, the {3-Clubs} completing his flush but any feelings of joy were soon shattered as the river was the {k-Clubs}, improving Hajjar to a better flush, which he celebrated by giving out an overenthusiastic roar and slamming his fist on the table.

Moorman on the other hand just stood and left the table like the pro that he is.

One Nils to Neubauer

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Nils Neubauer set Najı Abdo all in on the river of a {Js8c6cTh4d} board, the latter calling but then instantly mucked when he saw Neubauer's {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

A couple of players were not happy about Abdo's muck and the tournament director confirmed that both hands must be shown after an all in and a call.

Abdo's hand was {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for the curious ones among you.

Chips For Dinner

Here are some of the official chip counts from the dinner break.

Level: 7

Blinds: 250/500

Ante: 50

Belluscio Caught Bluffing

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Julio Belluscio continues to entertain, he tried a 5,250 bet on the river of an {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} board against Johan Guilbert but the latter was not a believe and made the call.

Belluscio showed {A-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Guilbert claimed this pot with a measly, but good enough, {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

One-Hour Dinner Break

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

We are now halfway through proceedings here on Day 1b of the WPT Merit Cyprus Classic Main Event and that means only one thing; it is time for a 60-minute dinner break.

Rejoin us in around an hour's time when we will resume the coverage of the Main Event.

In the meantime, check out this video to see what you're missing out on by not being here!

Mizrachi Drops Further

It's not been a good last couple of levels for Michael Mizrachi. "The Grinder" was facing a 7,000 bet on the turn of an {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts} board against Noshrivan Gadeliya.

Mizrachi min-raised to 14,000 but Gadeliya quickly pushed for about 45,000 in total. The American folded and Gadeliya showed an ace to which Mizrachi replied with a nod and a thumbs up.

Ziyard Runs Into Kings

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Zimnan Ziyard has been left nursing a short stack after running his pocket jacks into the kings of Christopher Thomson.

Thomson was in the cutoff and Ziyard the big blind when a preflop raising war broke out that resulted in Thomson being all-in. Thomson showed {k-Spades}{K-Hearts} to Ziyard's {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} and when the board ran out {9-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} Thomason doubled up and Ziyard has a mighty task on his hands to rebuild his decimated stack.
