Chip Leaders Collide; Solis Comes Out Ahead

Travis Erdman
Travis Erdman
In what was perhaps the most pivotal hand of the tournament thus far, chip leaders Jake Solis and Travis Erdman just went head-to-head generating a 175,000 pot that bled into the break.

Preflop, Erdman opened with a raise to 10,000 from under the gun and action folded around the table to Solis in the big blind, who made the call.

The flop came down {6-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {4-Spades} and Solis fired a 15,000 bet. Erdman then kicked it up another 21,000, making it a total of 36,000 to go; Solis made the call.

The {Q-Hearts} came on the turn and Solis passed the first action to Erdman, who fired a big-league bet of 40,000. Solis then executed a check-raise to 100,000 and after a short dwell in the tank, Erdman folded. Solis generously flashed his hand to Erdman, revealing {Q-?} {6-?} for top two pair.

After the hand, Erdman was left with 284,000 in chips while Solis leapt into the chip lead with 378,000.

Binger Rakes a Big One

Micheal Binger
Micheal Binger
Picked up from the flop of {9-Hearts} {2-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}: Preston Derden in the big blind, Bill Bostick in middle position, and Micheal Binger on the button. All checked around, producing a turn card in the form of the {7-Diamonds}. There would be no checks this time as Derden initiated the action by opening for 14,000. A call from both players led to the river, {K-Diamonds}. The action cautiously checked around to Binger, who took advantage and bet 30,000. A call from Derden was followed by Bostick bowing out. Binger showed {J-Clubs} {10-Hearts} for the straight to the king, which bested Derden's {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}.

A lot of chips were pushed to Binger, and the counts after the hand were:

Micheal Binger - 318,000
Preston Derden - 38,000
Bill Bostick - 137,000

Clements Drops to 43K

On a board showing {A-?} {K-?} {9-?} rainbow, Michael Binger check-called a 13,000 bet from opponent Scott Clements.

A six fell on the turn, and Binger check-called another Clements bet, this time a 20,000 one.

Another six came on the river and both players checked. Binger tabled {A-?} {10-?} for two pair (aces and sixes) and Clements mucked.

Rick Troendly Eliminated in 13th Place ($8,323)

Rick Troendly - 13th Place
Rick Troendly - 13th Place
Bill Bostick has just claimed another victim in Rick Troendly, to move past the 160,000 mark in chips.

The hand was pretty simple: Troendly moved all in for 57,500 from early position and Bostick made the call in the small blind.

Showdown:
Bostick: {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}
Troendly: {6-Clubs} {5-Clubs}

The board filled out {6-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {3-Spades} and Bostick's jacks held up to cement Troendly's elimination from the tournament.

Emilio Porcalla Eliminated in 14th Place ($8,323)

Emilio Porcalla
Emilio Porcalla
Facing a middle-position raise of 14,000 from Bill Bostick, Emilio Porcalla decided it was time to shove and did so for his remaining 35,000 total. With little more than an afterthought, Bostick called and was all too happy to show his {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}. Porcalla brought {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} to the face-off. The flop was not the heart-rich flop Porcalla was hoping for as it came {8-Spades} {10-Spades} {2-Spades}, and the all-but-out-of-here Porcalla watched the {2-Diamonds} close out his day. The river was a irrelevant {6-Diamonds}.

Porcalla battled most of the day with a below-average chip stack; his sharp play helped him to survive and claim 14th place. Bostick was up to 98,000 after the hand.

"It Would've Worked, Except..."

Ty Stewart
Ty Stewart
Travis Erdman opened the pot with a raise to 10,000 from late position. Michael Binger then kicked it up a notch from the cutoff, making it approximately 46,000 to go. The button folded and when the action landed on Ty Stewart in the small blind, he moved all in for a total of 22,500. Allen Kessler folded his big blind, and Erdman folded as well, sending Binger and Stewart straight to the showdown:

Showdown
:
Binger: {4-Hearts} {6-Spades}
Stewart: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} {3-Hearts} and Binger was drawing dead by the turn.

After the hand, Binger commented, "First move I make all day... It would've worked, except he wakes up with ace-queen!"

Stewart stacked up about 50,000 in new chips after the hand, while Binger absorbed the bee sting of a hit, dropping slightly to 109,000.

Micheal Cooper Eliminated in 15th Place ($8,323)

Micheal Cooper has seen better flops
Micheal Cooper has seen better flops
Micheal Cooper open-shoved from the button for his last 36,500 and was called by small blind Travis Erdman. Cooper had decided to make his stand with {K-Hearts} {8-Clubs}, while Erdman countered with {A-Clubs} {7-Spades}. The flop contained a lethal ace, as it was spread {3-Clubs} {3-Spades} {A-Spades}. The turn and river bricked out a {9-Diamonds}, {Q-Spades} respectively, signaling the end for Cooper.

His elimination will gross him $8,323. Erdman is now adding to his chip lead as he sits on 370,000 in chips.
