2008 WSOP Circuit Event - Lake Tahoe
$5,150 Championship Main Event
Day: 2
Cooke, Fried
Dombrowski opened with a raise from early position, making it 5,500 to play. Cooke then moved all in over the top for a total of 9,600. Action folded back around to Dombrowski, who made the call and tabled two red kings; Cooke was in bad shape with an underpair -- pocket nines.
The board filled out and Dombrowski's kings held to send a very animated Neal Cooke to the rail.
Clements Gets Sneaky; Eliminates Bessey
Clements limped in from early position with the kings and Bessey called from the small blind; Bill Bostick checked his option in the big.
All three players checked the board all the way down to the river, at which point Bessey fired a 2,000 bet. Bostick made the call, but when the action landed on Clements, he simply shoved all in. Bessey made the call for less and Bostick folded, sending us to the showdown.
Clements' kings full was far and away the best hand as Bessey tabled for trip deuces and was outchipped and thus, eliminated by the two-time bracelet winner, who now sits with right around 60,000 in chips.
Liebert Doubles Through Derden
Stewart and Dombrowski Tangle
Unfortunately for Stewart, the clash cost him most of his stack, leaving only 25,000 in play.
Sanders Rivers a Straight to Best Marks
The flop came , and both players checked, opting to see a free turn: .
Marks then led out with a 3,000 bet and Sanders made a quick call, which took us to the river: .
Marks fired once more, this time making it 10,000 to go. Sanders made a no-nonsense call and tabled for a straight; Marks turned over for ace-high.
After the hand, Sanders jumped back up to 96,000 in chips while Marks dropped to 57,500.
Cooke Gets Courageous
Showdown:
Dombrowski:
Cooke:
"This hand's been hitting for me all day," said Cooke as he sweated the board:
Dombrowski's tens gave him a bigger boat than the one that Cooke played on the board, to secure his double up and boost him to about 65,000 in chips. Cooke, meanwhile, dropped to 13,900 in the loss.
Archbold Done for the Day
While this hand played out, Preston Derden eliminated Tom Masinter on another table.
