Begley Doubles Up in the Clutch

Tim "begsclutch" Begley
Tim "begsclutch" Begley
We pick up a hand over on Table 29 where we see Tim "begsclutch" Begley all in and called by an opponent across the table. Begley had just 3,800 chips to start the hand, and they were all in the middle of the table when we joined the action. With the cards already face up, there is {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts} in front of the at-risk Begley, and he is looking for a double up against the {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} of his rival.

The board came scary but safe for Begley as it ran out {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {6-Hearts}. With that, he does indeed earn that much-needed double up.

Rice Takes One Down

William Burdick and Ari Engel limped before Craig Rice raised to 1,000 preflop. Kevin Culjat was in the big blind and made the call as did Burdick. Engel folded.

The flop came down {7-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {2-Spades} between the three players and action checked to Rice. He fired out 3,100 and both players folded.

Rice has been building nicely while seated to the left of Engel and now sits with around 34,000 chips.

Byrum Continues to Slide

Jeremy Byrum
Jeremy Byrum
We pick up the action on the flop in a heads-up pot between Jovan Sudar and Jeremy Byrum. The board shows {2-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}, and Sudar has the betting lead. He puts out 600 chips on that flop, prompting Byrum to raise to 2,100. After just a moment of thoughtful staring, Sudar announces that he is all in. He has 10,725 left, which is enough to put Byrum at risk of elimination. That's when the chatter began.

"Wow, I think I have you beat," said Byrum as he fiddled with his chips.

"You probably have me beat," came the response from Sudar. "You definitely have me beat."

After Byrum sat still for another few seconds, Sudar continued the banter. "I'm way behind. You should definitely call."

Finally, Byrum elected to save his remaining 5,200 chips for a better spot as he returned his cards to the dealer.

Ilich Finds a Sick Flop

Drazen Ilich
Drazen Ilich
Drazen Ilich opened the pot with a raise to 300 and was called by Jeremy Byrum in middle position and Daniel Thomas in the big blind. Three handed then, the flop brought out {K-Hearts} {2-Spades} {2-Clubs}. All three men checked.

The turn card came the {6-Hearts}. Thomas led out with a bet of 600, and both of his opponents called to see the river card.

It was the {K-Diamonds}. Thomas slowed back down, checking the action over. Ilich wasn't having any of that passive play; he overbet the pot slightly, flicking out 3,000 chips sloppily. Byrum shot Ilich a glance, furrowed his eyebrows and then made the call. Thomas released his hand.

Ilich opened up his hole cards, showing {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} for the quad deuces. Not surprisingly, Byrum couldn't beat it, and the pot went to Ilich. After that hand, he has chipped his way up to 32,000, leaving Byrum with just over 8,000.

The Happy Couples

In the battle of the sexes, the ladies are on top so far. The charming Donna Bryan is sitting on 16,000 chips, while hubby Jeffrey has been bumped down to his last 5,600.

Michelle Hiers has been chipped down as well, sitting with 15,000. Still, that's good enough to lead her man in the chip count race. David is close behind though, sitting with 14,500. Rest assured these two couples are battling for more than just the money. The secondary prize up for grabs today: bragging rights at the family reunion.
