David Dao Doubles Up Through Kai Landry

Preflop, David Dao raised to 110,000 and was called by Ken Landry. The flop fell {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {2-Diamonds} and Dao pushed for 719,000. After a while, Landry made the call.

Dao: {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs}
Landry: {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs}

The turn fell the {A-Diamonds} and the river the {Q-Hearts} and David Dao moved up to nearly 1.7 Million in chips. Landry is down to around 370,000.

Matt Stout Takes a Pot with Aggression

Preflop, Matt Stout raised to 55,000 and was called by Kai Landry.

The flop fell {3-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {9-Clubs} and Landry checked to Stout. Stout bet out 80,000. Landry then check-raised to 380,000 total. Unlike several hands earlier, Stout did not lay the hand down. Instead, he moved all in for 376,000 more.

About as soon as the all in was announced, Kai got a look on his face as to say, "Really?" His hand slightly pushed his cards towards the muck and then he paused. After a few more seconds, he pushes his cards the rest of the way.

Stout takes over 400,000 of Landry's chips with this hand.

A New Strategy against Stout?

Over the last hour or so, an interesting pattern has appeared to emerge between Matt Stout and David Dao. Whenever they are in a hand together, Dao is letting Stout do all the betting. Several times, Dao has check-raised Stout on the flop and has taken the pot. Landry has done the same to Stout once, but not with the same frequency of Dao.

It is unknown whether Dao is just being hyper-aggressive or whether Stout has tightened up his game. In either event, it should be interesting to see how the rest of this level unfolds.

So Close, but No Call

Preflop, Kai Landry raised to 60,000 and was called by David Dao. The flop fell {8-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {7-Hearts} and Landry checked to Dao, who bet out 100,000 chips. Landry made the call.

The turn fell the {6-Hearts} and Landry bet out 300,000. Dao thought for a while, before making a painful looking fold.

Landry said, "Call....Call...." before showing the {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} for what would have been the nut flush.

Landry moved up to 1.45 million in chips after this hand.

Bad Taste in his Mouth?

Preflop, Matt Stout made a raise to 55,000 and was called by Kai Landry. The flop fell {9-Spades} {2-Clubs} {A-Clubs} and both players checked.

The turn fell the {K-Spades} and Stout bet out 80,000 chips. Landry called.

The river fell the {6-Diamonds} and Stout bet out 120,000 chips.

Landry sat and thought for a moment and at one point looked like he wanted to swallow his own tongue. Finally, he threw away his hand and Stout picks up a pot worth over 120,000 chips.

Three-Way Action

The game has certainly changed now that we are three handed. First, the aggression has picked up pretty noticeably, as you would imagine now that they are playing so shorthanded. The vast majority of the pots are being won with a single preflop raise, or a single continuation bet on the flop.

Despite the changes on the felt, the mood at the table is still very much light-hearted and casual. Stout and Landry, in particular, are prodding each other back and forth, and Dao too joins in the good-natured ribbing occasionally.

"How does it feel to go from all in with king-three to having a mil and a half?" Stout asked Landry as he eyed up his stack.

"Not bad, not bad," replied Landry with a smirk.

"Yeah, I bet it doesn't suck!" retorted Stout, matching the grin.

At least these guys can still find reason to chuckle with nearly $200,000 on the line.

Leonard Eidson Eliminated in 4th Place ($61,816)

Leonard Eidson - 4th Place
Leonard Eidson - 4th Place
Preflop, Kai Landry raised to 40,000 and Matt Stout made the call. Leonard Eidson then moved all in for 77,000 more. Both Stout and Landry made the call. Both Stout and Landry checked down through the river.

Board: {8-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {10-Spades}

Eidson announced, "Ace high" and showed {A-Clubs} {7-?}. Landry showed {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} for a pair of sixes and Stout mucked.

Leonard Eidson became our 4th place finisher and will take home $61,816 for his efforts.

Eidson Loses Steam

From the button, Leonard Eidson opened with a raise to 50,000. Next to act was Kai Landry from the small blind, and he reraised to a total of 170,000. Eidson counted down his own stack before making the call. The other two players were sitting on the sidelines watching this heads-up battle.

The flop brought {5-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}. Eidson announced that he was all in, and just as quickly came the, "I call," from Landry. The two men discussed the fact that they each had a queen, but the kickers were still undisclosed.

Showdown:
Eidson: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Landry: {Q-Hearts} {K-Hearts}

The turn brought some chop outs for Eidson, as the {A-Spades} landed on the board. In good shape to double up, Landry watched the river card bring the {J-Diamonds}, and that earns him twice as many chips as he had before the hand. He has vaulted back up to 870,000, leaving Eidson with just 120,000 funny money.
