The staff was waiting to conduct a redraw, but they had to wait for a hand to play out at one of the tables. It began with Mark Herm opening under the gun to 17,000, and Ari Engel called from the cutoff seat. In the big blind, Michael DePasquale reraised to 50,000, and Herm shoved all in for about 210,000 total. That shook Engel off his hand, but DePasquale made the call with the covering stack, putting "dipthrong" at risk for his tournament life.
Showdown
Herm:
DePasquale:
Herm was in bad shape, and he'd find no help from the dealer. The board came . The ace-queen falls, and Herm does as well. He's out in 18th place, and DePasquale has taken the chip lead with 720,000 now.
Ed Cotter opened the pot to 27,000 from the cutoff seat, and Fritz Stoner called all in for his last 17,000 from the small blind. Ryan Waddell called from the big blind as well, and the two live players went off to the flop.
It came , and Waddell led out with 30,000. Cotter folded, and Stoner was at risk as the cards were tabled. He had flopped lucky with , and he was poised to triple up against Waddell's . The turn was a blank, but Stoner couldn't fade the river. The peeled off the deck, giving Waddell the better two pair and the knockout.
Mark Herm opened to 16,000 in the cutoff and David A. Henninger put in his remaining 35,000 from the small blind. Herm called with , looking to improve against Henninger's .
It was a limped blind-versus-blind pot when we walked up to a flop. Kenny Nguyen led out with a bet of 10,000, and Stephen Cinderella moved all in for 91,000 total. Nguyen spent some time in the tank before calling with , and he was ahead. Cinderella tabled his inferiorly kickered , looking for a high card to chop, at least.
Turn: . That's pretty low.
River: . Also quite low.
Those cards mean Cinderella's chips have turned into pumpkins, and they've migrated over to Kenny Nguyen's stack. He's in the chip lead now, sitting pretty with about 600,000.
Behrooz Jamshidi was down to 44,000 when he shoved in with before the flop. Ari Engel reshoved from the small blind, and that got him heads up, and his was flipping for the knockout.
The board ran out dry, coming . Engel could not pair up to take the pot, and Jamshidi, for one, is happy about that. He's back to 103,000 now, knocking Engel down a peg to 330,000.
From the button, Trevor Savage pushed his last ~50,000 into the middle first into the pot. Big blind Miguel Borrero quickly called with , and Savage's was in a bad spot.
The dealer gave him no help, either, running out a board to seal Savage's elimination.
