From the button, Jake Toole shoved the 109,000 chips he had all into the middle. That was a problem, as small blind Michael Rocco woke up with and made the call with his covering stack.
Things would get a bit better for Toole as the flop gave him an open-ender to work with. The turn was no help, but the river was right in Mr. Toole's neighborhood. It makes his straight to the ten, and the mighty ten-seven earns him the double.
Toole is back to 225,000 now, and our own PokerNews Strategy Pro is back in the game. If you want to learn how to crack aces with ten-seven, head over to Toole's strategy page and get signed up!
Down to just 14,000 chips after posting the ante, Roland Israelashvili limped in for 10,000, then called all in when Robert Scott raised to 35,000 from the button. Everyone else ducked out, and Israelashvili was heads up for his tournament life. He was in trouble.
Showdown
Israelashvili:
Scott:
The case nine appeared on the flop, and Israelashvili was already drawing dead to a chop. The turn ended any hopes of that, and the river is the last card Israelashvili will see today. He's out in 15th place, good for a pay bump up to $5,818.
Ari Engel opened to 23,000 in middle position, and Joseph Renzi three-bet shoved for 128,000 from the big blind. Engel considered for maybe four or five minutes before announcing the call, and Renzi was at risk.
Showdown
Engel:
Renzi:
Renzi was less than thrilled with the call, and he'd not like the board, either. It came , and he has been sent off in 16th place.
First into the pot, Roland Israelashvili raised to 30,000, and Alyson Parker three-bet shoved for 123,000 total. When it came back to the original raiser, he called with a similar stack, and the cards were on their backs.
Showdown
Israelashvili:
Parker:
It was another coin flip between these two, and this one would go Parker's way. The board came , and the lady's set of eights is plenty good enough to keep her around. She's doubled to about 270,000 with that pot, knocking Israelashvili down to just 15,000 lonely chips.
A few shoves and a double have helped Alyson Parker increase her stack to more than 10 big blinds. Under the gun, she shoved for 64,000 with and found action from Michael DePasquale in the big blind with .
The board ran out , giving Parker two pair to stay afloat in the tournament.
From the hijack, Roland Israelashvili moved all in for 69,000. Alyson Parker re-raised all in on the button, forcing folds from the blinds. Parker tabled , flipping with Israelashvili's .
The board ran out , pairing Israelashvili and giving him a little breathing room.
It began with Ari Engel opening to 19,000 and Renzi calling from the hijack seat. Michael Rocco reraised to 51,000, Engel folded, and Renzi reraised all in for 62,000 total. Rocco quickly called with , and Renzi's was drawing live.
The board, please:
Renzi flushes the turn, earning the double back to about 150,000.
First into the pot from the cutoff seat, Ari Engel raised with a big stack of uncounted gray chips. In the big blind, Joseph Renzi moved all in, and Engel called all in for his full stack of 212,000. The news was not so good for "BodogAri".
Showdown
Engel:
Renzi:
Engel was likely going to need a four to stay alive, and a four he would receive. The flop drew a frustrated, "Get the f*** outta here," from Renzi, now drawing from behind. The turn was no change, and neither was the river.
Engel's unlikely set of fours earns him a big double to 437,000, and Renzi is left with just about 60,000 with which to try and mount a comeback.
