Gu Gone, Lee Hits a Set of Jacks, Julius Finds a Double, Tamayo Can't, Baker Rises and Falls

Jessica Dawley, just because we didn't get to post this before she was eliminated a couple hours ago.

Goodbye Gu - 10:27 PM

From under the gun, Dave "Doc" Sands raised to 7,400. Frank Gu was on the button and reraised to 20,000. James Anderson reraised to 50,000. Sands folded and Gu moved all in. Anderson called and tabled the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. He was up against the {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for Gu.

The flop came down {K-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Anderson picked up a flush draw. The turn brought the {10-Clubs} and gave him a gutterball as well. The river landed with the {5-Diamonds} and that was one of the cards Anderson could use. He eliminated Gu and moved to 310,000 in chips.

Another One Bites the Dust - 10:35 PM

Tony Bolahood was down to just 11,300 when he moved it in from under the gun. The table folded all the way back around to Keven Stammen, and he wasn't even going to bother looking. He called, and everyone got to see his {10-Diamonds} {8-Spades} together as Balahood tabled the slightly-better {J-Clubs} {3-Spades}.

It wasn't better for long. The flop brought a pair for Stammen, and the {8-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} board was all she wrote for the short stack. Balahood is out in 32nd place, and Stammen finds a few extra chips to play with.

Carroll Hears the Bell - 10:37 PM

Down to just over 30,000, James Carroll open-shoved with {10-Clubs} {8-Clubs}. Next door, Kevin Dooley woke up with ace-jack and made the call, and Carroll was going to need some help to stick around. He would not find any from the dealer though, and a board full of blanks meant Dooley's ace-high was good enough for the knockout.

Just 30 players remain.

Axtman Chopped by Lee - 10:39 PM

On the flop of {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}, Bruce Axtman checked to Chris Klodnicki. Klodnicki bet 12,700 and then Bernard Lee was next up. He took his time before firing in a raise to 32,300. Axtman thought for only a tiny bit of time before moving all in for approximately 65,000. Klodnicki folded and then Lee made the call.

Axtman turned up the {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for top pair and a straight draw. He was behind the set of jacks that Lee held with the {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, but did have outs with two cards to come.

The turn brought the {5-Hearts} and that card didn't help Axtman. The river completed the board with the {8-Diamonds} and Lee won the hand. Axtman was eliminated while Lee stacked up to 252,000 in chips.

Julius Doubles Down by the Shorr - 10:56 PM

From under the gun, Justin Smith raised to 7,700. Ryan Julius was in the next seat and reraised to 72,400 and was all in. Shannon Shorr called and then Smith folded.

Shorr: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Julius: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

Julius flopped and ace on the board of {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and doubled up to about 160,000. Shorr was knocked down to 195,000.

Tamayo Eliminated - 11:00 PM

Curt Kohlberg opened with a raise from the hijack seat, and Jonathan Tamayo three-bet to 21,500 from the small blind. It was nearly half his stack, and Kohlberg set him all in for about 50,000 total. Tamayo called with the {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}, and he would soon see that the news was not good. Kohlberg turned up his dominating {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, and the {8-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {8-Hearts} board did nothing to save Tamayo from extinction.

He's out, and Kohlberg has clawed his way up to 365,000.

Kohlberg Shoves on Adams - 11:07 PM

Curt Kohlberg raised to 8,000 from the button and Brandon Adams reraised to 28,000 from the big blind. Kohlberg called and the flop came down {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Adams bet 37,000, but then folded to an all-in shove from Kohlberg to drop to 130,000. Kohlberg has been doing quite well for himself and it up to 495,000.

Baker Rises and Falls - 11:14 PM

In early position, David Baker opened to 8,000, and Dave Orvis thee-bet all in for 21,300. Baker quickly called, and his {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} had his opponent's {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades} drawing slim for his survival.

There was no help from the dealer, either, as the board ran out {4-Spades} {4-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {9-Clubs} to send him to the exit. Baker chipped up to about 450,000 thanks to that, but the chips would not stay with him for long.

On the next hand, Baker once again opened the pot, this time under the gun. Keven Stammen three-bet him, and Bakes went ahead and four-bet enough to put Stammen to the test. The call came, Stammen all in for 90,200 and flipping for his tournament life. He held {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades}, and “Bakes” was racing for the knockout with {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}. Stammen's jacks ran faster, though, as the board came {2-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {10-Hearts}.

Put Stammen at about 185,000 now, while Baker takes a slide back to 360,000.

Levy Can't Close Out Schwartz - 11:29 PM

First in from the hijack seat, Adam Levy raised it up to 7,800. In the small blind, Jeremy Schwartz moved all in for 48,100, and Levy quickly called, turning up {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}.

"Shit," Schwartz couldn't help himself. He sheepishly tabled {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}, all in and in trouble.

Levy flopped his king, but Schwartz hit it harder. The first three cards off the deck were {K-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}, and everyone at the table reacted to the come-from-behind trips. Levy needed one of the two-out kings, but the turn and river were {5-Spades} and {5-Clubs} to keep Schwartz safe. He's doubled up to 100,000 now, knocking Levy down around 250,000.

Eights for Adams, Patgorski Builds a Big Stack, Paul the Octopus, and Shorr Moving Up

Eights Are Good for Adams - 9:29 PM

When we got to the table, there was a flop of {5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} in the middle and three players in the hand. Those were players were, in order, Full Tilt Red Pro Steve Zolotow, WSOP-E Main Event final table member Brian Powell and fellow Full Tilt Red Pro Brandon Adams.

Zolotow and Powell had checked to Adams, who bet out 11,500. Zolotow folded, but Powell made the call.

The turn brought the {6-Diamonds} and completed some straight and flush draws. Powell checked and Adams fired 26,000. Powell made the call.

The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs} and Powell checked. Adams thought about it, but wound up checking behind. Powell then announced a six, but Adams turned over the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Powell then mucked.

Powell dropped to 150,000 while Adams moved up to 225,000.

A Challenger Awaits9:29 PM

Francesco Barbaro's seat is conspicuously empty as we glance across at his table, and we see the number of player remaining has ticked down to 35. We missed the action on this one, but John Patgorski was nice enough to fill us in. He and Barbaro took a flop of {K-} {6-} {6-}, and in the words of Patgorski, “he was check-raising and calling bets.” Patgorski played his pocket kings slow after the flop, and running threes on the turn and river gave Barbaro a second-best full house. He fired another bullet on the river though, then called off the rest of his stack when Patgorski shoved with his kings full.

There's now a challenger to David Paredes' big stack as Patgorski is all the way up over 550,000. Barbaro has zero.

Paul the Octopus - 9:40 PM

We apparently missed the first part of this conversation, but we walked up as it resumed following a bit pot. John Patgorski and Adam Levy have been taking about Paul the Octopus, the World Cup prediciting cephalopod that has just been sent to Squid Heaven, unfortunately.

“I feel like you could just get a bunch of animals together,” Patgorski said, “and have them all make a bunch of picks. Then you take the one who's nailing it and advertise him as the boss picker. I think Paul was just the one that ran good.”

The table chuckled and Patgorski continued. “I bet there's some tree frog in Argentina that's just crushing soccer picks or something.”

“Naw, he's an asshole,” Anthony Hartmann said from across the table. “He doesn't do any research or leg work of his own. The octopus doesn't guess. He knows. He's not just some random tree frog that licks this side or that side.” More laughs all around.

“Octopii are pretty smart,” Levy chimed in. “Don't quote me on this, but I've heard that some of them have, like, really strong cognitive or psychic abilities. I have no idea, I've just heard that. Don't quote me on that, seriously.”

Sorry, Roothlus.

Hi, Steve!9:49 PM

“Tell the poker world I said hi!” Tournament Director Steve Frezer told us. We told Steve we weren't going to mention him unless he danced for it, and he promptly re-enacted the Gopher Dance from Caddyshack. That'll do it. So, poker fans, Steve says hi!

Shorr Takes a Bite Out of Paredes - 9:51 PM

There was about 40,000 in the pot already when we walked up to a flop of {7-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}. David Paredes was first to act, and he led out with 19,000. Shannon Shorr raised it up to 41,000 after which Paredes three-bet shoved, and Shorr called all in for about 85,000.

Paredes tabled {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} for the overpair, but it was second best. Shorr's {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} had him two cards from a double up, and the turn {9-Hearts} and river {10-Hearts} made that dream a reality. He's up to about 220,000 now, while Paredes takes a hit. Don't worry too much about him just yet, though; he's still got the chip lead with 655,000.

Shorr Four-Bets - 9:52 PM

Tournament chip leader David Paredes raised from early position to 6,000. Brock Parker three-bet from middle position and made it 16,500. Shannon Shorr was in the big blind and four-bet to 44,000. Paredes got an estimation on both players' stack sizes and then folded. Parker quickly followed behind and Shorr won the pot.

Vayo Con Dios10:01 PM

Gordon Vayo got himself all in on a flop of {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds} in a three-way pot against David Paredes (who would fold) and Justin Smith (who would not). Smith had the covering stack and the {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}, and Vayo was on the draw and needing his {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} to connect to stay alive.

The turn was a miss, though, the {8-Clubs} changing nothing. Vayo paired up on the river {J-Clubs}, but it wasn't enough to get him over the hump. He's been eliminted, and his chips move Smith up to... maybe 195,000, though the way he's stacked up makes it very difficult to get an accurate count.

Paredes Rebounds - 10:14 PM

On the turn of a {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {A-Spades} board, James Carroll bet 12,500 into David Paredes, and Paredes called. The river brought the {2-Diamonds}, and this time Carroll tapped the table. Paredes took his cue to bet 27,500, and Carroll called.

Paredes' {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} were good to win the pot, chipping him back up to 725,000 after taking that hit a few minutes ago.

Sands Shifting Forward - 10:16 PM

James Anderson raised to 5,500 to open the pot, and Dave Sands called from the hijack seat. From the big blind, though, Shawn Busse squeezed in a reraise to 18,500, and this time only Sands called.

Heads up, the flop came {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} {6-Spades}, and Sands called a bet of 15,000. He called another 30,000 on the {9-Diamonds} turn, and Busse decided not to fire a third barrel on the {7-Spades} river as both players checked. Sands showed his {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} first, and it was the winner. He's up to 305,000 now, while Busse has taken a tumble back down to 64,000.

Brown Cut Down, Paredes Lapping the Field

Chad Brown
Chad Brown

Brown Busts9:09 PM

Chad Brown was all in for about 40,000 with {J-Spades}{10-Spades} on a {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, but ran into John Patgorski’s {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. The river was the {K-Hearts} and Brown’s tournament was over. Patgorski is up to about 350,000.

Paredes Pounding This Field - 9:15 PM

Michael Kelly was in 12th place at the dinner break, but he's just run himself out of chips. He opened his final pot to 7,000 before David Paredes three-bet to 22,200. Kelly promptly made it what looked like 72,000 total, and Paredes five-bet shoved with his massive stack. His opponent didn't like it, but Kelly called all in for about 200,000.

Showdown
Kelly: {7-Hearts} {7-Clubs}
Paredes: {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}

Just aces. There was nothing for Kelly on the board of {2-Spades} {J-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {2-Hearts}, and he has sung his swan song. After a rocket-hot start to his day, it's all over in 38th place. He's out shy of the money, and Paredes is in virtually no danger of missing out on a payday. He's lapping the field right now, and his stack of 735,000 gives him more than a 2:1 lead over his nearest rival.

A Brown-Colored Shove - 6:33 PM

Benjamin Volpe raised to 4,400 from early-middle position and then Chad Brown moved all in from the hijack seat. Brown's all-in bet was for 34,700 and after a minute in the tank, Volpe folded his hand.

Adams Gets There - 6:39 PM

Full Tilt Red Pro Brandon Adams was all in for 24,100 on the flop of {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} holding the {K-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. He was up against Jonathan Tamayo's {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

The turn brought the {4-Clubs}, but the river saved Adams with the {6-Hearts} to give him a heart flush. He doubled up and now has nearly 60,000 in chips.

Sands Puts the Pressure On Lee - 6:40 PM

Foxwoods' poker room spokesperson Bernard Lee raised to 5,400 before Dave "Doc" Sands reraised to 12,700. When it got back around to Lee, he made the call and the flop came down {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}. Lee checked and then Sands fired out 14,700. Lee folded and dropped back to 107,000. Sands improved to 230,000.

Bet, Bet, Bet for Charania - 6:45 PM

Mohsin Charania raised to 4,500 from the hijack seat. Benjamin Volpe called from the button and Chad Brown called from the big blind. The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Brown checked. Charania bet 8,500 and Volpe called. Brown got out of the way before the turn card was dealt the {K-Spades}.

Charania bet the turn for 13,000 and Volpe called again to see the {2-Diamonds} pair the board on the river. The added duck on the board didn't slow down Charania and he bet out 23,000. Volpe folded and said, "Nice hand." Charania improved to 163,000 with that pot.

Lusby Loses it All - 6:50 PM

George Lusby was just eliminated at the hands of Brandon Adams. It was {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} for Lusby, racing for double or nothing against the {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades} of Adams.

The flop came {K-} {A-} {J-} to push Adams into a commanding lead. The ace on the turn paired the board and improved him to a full house, and Lubsy would need to make a bigger full house to stick around.

He could not, however, and a blank on the river ushered him out the door and moved Adams up to about 110,000.

Bakes! - 6:55 PM

Gordon Vayo was first into the pot from the cutoff seat, and he opened it to 5,100. Next door, David "Bakes" Baker three-bet to 13,300, and the blinds quickly folded to send the decision back to Vayo. Not missing a beat, he reraised to 28,100 straight, and Baker moved all in on a five-bet shove for 132,500. Vayo quickly called with the covering stack, and Baker was flipping for his tournament life:

Vayo: {10-Hearts} {10-Spades}
Baker: {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}

The flop was just what Bakes was looking for as it came {K-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} to give him the big lead right out of the gate. Vayo would need for a ten or two running cards to catch up, but he could not find them as the turn {5-Diamonds} and river {6-Spades} filled out the board.

Baker thusly wins his race to double up to 270,000, and that gives him about five times as many chips as Vayo has left now.

Lee Makes A Big Call to Double Up6:59 PM

Bernard Lee just made a huge call on the river to double through James Carroll. According to Lee, Carroll kicked off the action with a raise to 5,000 under the gun. Lee called on the button and Bruce Axtman called form the big blind, bringing out a flop of{K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}. It was checked to Carroll, who bet 10,000. Lee was the lone caller and the {J-Diamonds} hit the turn. Carroll’s bet of 25,000 was also called by Lee, landing the {3-Diamonds} on the river.

Carroll shoved and Lee went into the tank for a few minutes. In the end, he opted to call with {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and it was good, boosting his stack to about 220,000. Carroll dropped to about 135,000.

Smith Says No Moore - 7:04 PM

On the flop of {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts}, Ryan Julius checked and Chris Moore was up next. He fired 3,500 and then action fell on the third player in the hand, Justin Smith. The Full Tilt Red Pro raised to 12,600 and Julius folded. Moore made the call.

After the {6-Diamonds} hit the felt on the turn, Moore immediately moved all in for 40,400 into the pot of about 30,000. Smith thought for a bit and then made the call. Moore tabled the {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and Smith the {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

The river completed the board with the {9-Hearts} and didn't hit Moore. He was covered by Smith and eliminated on the hand.

Adams Doubles Through Zolotow7:04 PM

Brandon Adams doubled up for 89,400 after he was all in preflop {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} against Steve Zolotow’s {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}. The board ran out {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Adams upped his stack to about 190,000. Zolotow slipped to about 120,000.

Julius Attacks - 7:06 PM

Alexander Queen raised from under the gun to 4,800. Adam Levy called from the hijack seat and Justin Smith called from the cutoff before Ryan Julius was up on the button. He reraised to 19,500 and everyone folded.

The players went on a 90-minute dinner break at the completion of this level and will be back in action at approximately 9:00 p.m. local time.

Parker's Shiny Head, Raise-a-palooza Between Gu and Sands, Paredes Down and Back Up, And More

Brock Parker
Brock Parker

Smith Chips Up5:14 PM

With about 30,000 in the pot and the board reading {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, both Cero Zuccarello and Justin Smith checked to see the {J-Spades} river card hit. Zuccarello check-called Smith’s bet of 27,200, mucking when Smith tabled {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

Smith: Up to roughly 175,000
Zuccarello: Down to about 30,000

Parker Shoves with a Shiny Head - 5:19 PM

On the flop of {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}, Adam Levy checked to Brock Parker who was seated to his immediate left. Parker fired a bet of 12,000 and Levy made the call.

The turn card brought the {J-Hearts} to the board and Levy checked again. Parker fired bigger this time, betting 37,000. The bet put him all in and Levy tanked. Eventually, Levy gave it up and dropped back a tiny bit as Parker won the pot and moved up to 87,000.

"Your head's shining very nicely today, Brock," said Matt Stout as Parker was scooping the chips.

Vayo Takes Out Welch5:21 PM

The board read {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Ryan Welch got the remainder oh his stack into middle with {K-Spades}{10-Spades}, traling Gordon Vayo’s {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. The river did not save Welch and he was eliminated. Vayo is up to about 240,000.

Julius and Kelly with a Small Battle - 5:22 PM

Michael Kelly and Ryan Julius got into a little battle and this time is was Julius who won the pot, although it was nothing compared to the one he lost to Kelly earlier.

On the board of {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}, Julius called a bet of 6,000 from Kelly before the river card produced the {4-Hearts}. Kelly thought and then checked. Julius asked if the pot could be spread and then he bet 18,800. Kelly folded and Julius won the pot.

Paredes Dented5:26 PM

We just caught the tail end of the action, but here's what we know. There was a board of {8-Spades} {5-Spades} {9-Clubs} {J-Hearts} out on the table when we walked up, and a betting war left Mark Owens all in for 71,800. Big stack David Paredes knew he was in trouble when the chips went in, but he couldn't quite believe it.

“Queen-ten, really?!” he said indignantly. Sure enough, Owens tabled the {Q-Clubs} {10-Clubs}, and Paredes {Q-Spades} {9-Spades} was drawing dead to a chop. The river was a blank {3-Clubs} though, and Paredes' stack has been dented. Owens doubles up over 150,000, and the former chip leader takes a step back to a still-very-healthy 270,000.

Sands Three-Bets, Gu Four-Bets, Sands Five-Bets - 5:28 PM

From middle position, Frank Gu raised to 4,000. Dave "Doc" Sands reraised from the cutoff seat to 10,700. Action folded back to Gu and he four-bet to 24,000 after asking Sands to move his hands so that he could see his stack size. Sands then five-bet to 46,400. Gu folded fairly quickly after the five-bet and Sands won the pot.

Sands moved to 150,000 with that pot and Gu slipped back to 205,000.

Shorr Eroding - 5:30 PM

There was already more than 21,000 in the pot when we watched Ryan Austin and Shannon Shorr check through a {2-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} flop. On the {5-Spades} turn, Austin led out with a bet of 8,200, and Shorr didn't waste too much time making the call.

That brought them to the {6-Clubs} river, and Austin wasn't slowing down now. He made it 18,100 to see a showdown, and that sent Shorr deep into the tank. He cut out the calling chips from his stack and assessed the potential damage. The call represented close to half of his 42,200 chips, and it would take a couple long minutes before Shorr surrendered his cards, electing to save that remainder for a better spot.

Hinkle Eliminates Schulz - 5:35 PM

Blair Hinkle's stack just took another boost when he eliminated Kevin Schulz. Hinkle held the {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Schulz the {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} in this all-in-preflop situation. Schulz couldn't hit as the board ran out {7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and was sent to the rail. Hinkle increased to 272,000 in chips.

Zolotow Doubles Through Tamayo5:44 PM

A series of raises preflop led to Steve Zolotow getting his stack of 100,700 into the middle with {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} against Jonathan Tamayo’s {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. The board ran out {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} as Zolotow’s ace-high flush took it down. He moved up to about 105,000 while Tamayo dropped to about 245,000.

Boosted Takes a Tumble - 5:46 PM

Apparently there's some history between Justin "BoostedJ" Smith and Shawn Busse, seated right next to each other over at the far table. A moment ago, we picked up a pot as they tangled in a preflop raising war that left Busse all in for 70,800. It was rockets for him, the {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}, and Smith was visibly frustrated as he rolled over his {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}.

"The fourth reraise, and you have the aces," Smith lamented, trailing off and shaking his head.

There'd be no funny stuff on a board of {2-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {6-Hearts}, and Busse finds a big double up. He's well over 150,000 now, while Smith drops back to 75,000, essentially trading stacks with his Busse in that exchange.

No Medic Needed For Adkison5:49 PM

Nenad Medic ran {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} into the pocket queens of David Adkison. A third queen fell on the flop and Medic would not recover, bringing his tournament to an end. Adkison upped his stack to about 180,000.

Parker Getting Pushy - 5:50 PM

From middle position, Brock Parker opened to 4,000, and he found one call from small blind Michael Kelly. The two men took a heads-up flop of {Q-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {8-Hearts}, and Kelly check-called a bet of 6,500. On the {K-Diamonds} turn, he took the betting lead, firing out 12,000 into the pot. Parker was having none of it, though, and he promptly raised to what looked like 65,000. Kelly spent some time in the tank, but he was unable to make the call, further reducing his once-mighty stack to 54,000.

Paker has about 140,000 now.

Table Talk - 5:51 PM

While a hand was playing out at his table, Matt Stout was having a quiet conversation with his neighbor (about smoking, naturally). The problem is that even Stout's quiet voice is deep and gravely, and it penetrates the quiet air in here.

"Your voice is so deep, I swear," said Adam Levy from across the table. "You and Steve O'Dwyer could easily be commentators for something. Like the movie preview guy."

Stout grinned back at Levy. "Steve Brecher said I should be on the radio." After a minute, he added, "I used to do the announcements for my middle school."

Vance Gone - 5:53 PM

Matthew Vance was all in preflop with the {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} against the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for Ryan Austin. The board ran out {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Vance hit the rail.

Sesso Doubles with Quads - 5:53 PM

David Sesso was all in from under the gun for 10,400. Jonathan Tamayo called from the big blind and the hands were turned up.

Sesso: {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Tamayo: {J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The flop was all Sesso needed to get the double when it came down {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades} to give him quads. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and the river the {9-Clubs} to finish things off.

Kelly Doubles Through Crowe - 6:00 PM

Owen Crowe moved all in preflop and Michael Kelly made the call. Kelly was the one at risk and all in for 113,000. He had the {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} up against the {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for Crowe.

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades} and Crowe sent over the chips. He was knocked down to 20,000 with this crushing blow.

Peredes Doubles Through Hinkle to Take the Chip Lead6:10 PM

David Peredes raised from early position and Curt Kohlberg called from the hijack. Blair Hinkle put in a squeeze from the big blind and Peredes popped that. Kohlberg folded and Hinkle shoved for about 250,000 total. Peredes called with {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}, catching Hinkle making a move with {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{2-Clubs} giving both trips, but Hinkle found no help from the {4-Clubs} turn or {8-Diamonds} river. Peredes shot up to just more than 500,000 while Hinkle plummeted to about 20,000.

One for Welch - 3:44 PM

Ryan Welch bet out 14,400 on the flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. There was about 25,000 in the middle and David Ashby thought for a bit before folding his hand. Welch won the pot and moved to a little bit over 100,000 in chips.

Kelly Involved in Another Big Pot - 3:55 PM

Brock Parker raised from under the gun to 3,200 and then Chris Moore reraised to 9,000 from middle position. Michael Kelly was in the next seat and called before Alexander Queen reraised all in from the cutoff seat for 49,400. Everyone folded back around to Moore. He tanked for a couple minutes and then folded. Kelly took about a minute and then made the call, tabling the {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Queen had the {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{K-Spades} and Queen got the double. Kelly has been involved in plenty of big pots at his table. He dropped to 110,000 after sending over the chips to Queen.

Dawley Doubles, Then Busts4:02 PM

Jessica Dawley was all in for 22,500 with {9-Spades}{8-Spades}, facing Chad Brown’s {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}. The board ran out {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Dawley doubled to roughly 50,000. Brown slipped to about 150,000. About a half hour later, though, Dawley’s tournament came to an end.

Welch Forced to Fold - 4:08 PM

On the board of {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Ryan Welch check-called a bet of 14,000 from Blair Hinkle. The river completed the board with the {9-Spades} and Welch checked. HInkle put out a tall stack of chips to put Welch at risk for his last 70,000 or so if he were to go and Welch went into the tank. Welch took a couple minutes and then mucked his hand. Hinkle took the pot and moved to about 200,000.

E-Fro Licked - 4:14 PM

James Carroll and Eric Froelich got all the money in preflop after raising back and forth. Froelich held the {2-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Carroll held the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. The board ran through {K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Froelich hit the rail. Carroll moved back up to 140,000 in chips.

On His Way Out - 4:15 PM

Eric Froehlich came pacing by table Levy/Parker on his way out the door, starting up at the ceiling and pulling the Full Tilt patch off his shirt as he made his way to the exit. Adam Levy let him get out of earshot before striking up a conversation with his neighbor Brock Parker.

"What do you think? Did he tweet already?"

"I don't know, he's usually pretty quick. I'll check. And I bet it'll be negative," Parker answered.

Levy just laughed. "Of course it'll be negative. That's, like, the default E-Fro." After another minute, Levy continued, "Has he ever tweeted, 'Life is beautiful. Just enjoying every moment of this lovely day.'? Nope."

One Pair for Stammen4:22 PM

Keven Stammen raised to 3,300 under the gun, and he found a call from small blind Chris Bell. Heads up, the two men watched a flop of , and Stammen continued out with a bet of 4,600. Bell check-called, and both men checked the turn. The landed on the river, and Stammen fired another bet, 7,300 this time. Bell quickly called, and Stammen didn't seem to like it. “One pair,” he said, and Bell waited for him to show. Stammen tabled his , and Bell mucked.

“Good one pair,” Bell said with a smirk. “When you said one pair...”

“I didn't mean anything by that,” Stammen half-apologized. “I'm just stupid.”

Incidentally, it looks like Chris Bell was eliminated just a few hands later.

Kohlberg KOs Bell4:29 PM

With the board reading {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}, Curt Kohlberg went all in and put Chris Bell to the test for his last 47,000 chips or so. After a short while in the tank, Bell called with {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, but trailed Kohlberg’s {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. The river was the {10-Clubs} and Bell was is out toward the end of Level 13. Kohlberg is up to about 195,000

Let's Just Turn a One-Outer - 4:35 PM

On the flop of {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}, Frank Gu fired 3,500. Scott Mandel raised to 9,200 and then Bernard Lee flat-called. Action got back to Gu and he reraised to 26,500. Mandel then moved all in for about 35,000-40,000 and Lee folded, taking a minute before doing so though. Gu made the call and tabled the {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. It was no good though to Mandel's {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

Mandel was poised to double up, until the deal dealt the turn card. The turn smacked the board with the {7-Diamonds} and gave Gu quads and put him in front. Mandel couldn't find the case ten when the {8-Diamonds} hit the river and he was sent packing. Gu boomed his stack to about 275,000 thanks to this one-outer.
