O'Brien Tries a Bluff

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

We picked up the action on a {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop. A young woman and Dan O'Brien both checked to the player in position and he decided to fire 2,300. The woman and O'Brien called.

The turn was the {k-Spades} and all three players checked. The river brought the {q-Diamonds} and again the woman checked. O'Brien stacked out 5,600 worth of chips and placed them across the betting-line. After some thought, the player behind him folded leaving the decision on the woman. Eventually, she made the call.

O'Brien tabled {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for nine-high and his opponent quickly flipped over {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}. She jumped up in excitement as O'Brien mucked his cards and went back to focusing on his IPad.

Young's Aces Get Cracked

Justin Young raised it up to 700 in the hijack, and both of the blinds came along. The flop came out {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, and it was checked to Young, who fired out 1,300. The small blind quickly folded, and the big blind called just as quickly. The turn brought the {5-Diamonds}, and the big blind checked again to Young, who bet out 2,500. Again, the big blind instantly called, and the river brought the {j-Clubs}. Things got interesting here.

The big blind checked again, and Young reached for chips. The big blind then jokingly said "Don't bet I checked you should check too." A puzzled Young looked at him and confessed, "well now I'm really confused." Young grabbed a 5,000 chip, and his opponent instantly grabbed one as well, as if to say he would once again snap. Young declared 4,000, and his opponent backed it up, instantly calling. Young showed {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}, but his opponent said, "no good" showing {9-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a rivered straight. The hand cut Young down to alittle over his starting stack.

Carroll Staying Active

James Carroll became our chip leader early and has been adding chips slowly ever since. It seems that every time we walk by his table he is involved in a hand.

On a {6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts} board, he bet 1,600 in position and one player made the call. The river was the {q-Clubs}. The first player checked again to Carroll and he fired 4,600 which was once again called. Both players had {k-}{q-} and the pot was split.

"Gboro780" Gone

Steve "Gboro780" was down to about 7,000 last we saw him, and when we went back to his table, we saw that he was no longer in his seat. Gross has been eliminated, and he will have the opportunity to come back and buy in again tomorrow.

DiCarlo Tank Calls

A player in middle position raised to 450 and he was called once before the player in the cutoff three-bet to 2,000. Action folded to Sal DiCarlo in the small blind and he cold four-bet to 5,300. The player in the big blind, the initial raiser and caller all folded which prompted the three-bettor to move all in sending DiCarlo deep into the tank. Reluctantly he threw in some chips to signal a call to put his own tournament life at risk.

DiCarlo: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades}{k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} which left DiCarlo's opponent drawing dead by the turn.
