Madsen Strikes Again... And Again

Madsen was able to knock out an opponent when his {a-Spades}{k-Spades} defeated {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} on a {2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board.

Just two hands later, Madsen raised to 3,500 before another competitor moved all in for 22,700 total. Madsen was clearly crunching the numbers as he made the call saying, "I hope I'm live."

Hardly. His {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} was in bad shape against the {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} of his opponent. No matter though. After a {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} flop and {4-Spades} turn, he nailed a four flush with the {7-Spades} river. Talk about some run-good for the 2006 World Series of Poker Player of the Year.

More For Madsen

A player in middle position opened the pot with a raise to 3,300 and found calls from Jeff Madsen on the button as well as the player in the big blind. The flop was {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. The first player checked to the preflop raiser and he fired out 5,600 which was called by only Madsen.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}. After the aggressor slowed down with a check, Madsen bet 8,700. To his surprise, his opponent check-raised to 21,300. Madsen decided to make the call.

The river was the {a-Diamonds} which was met with a continuation of 27,700 and after some thought and grimaces, Madsen threw in the chips.

"You probably have it," Madsen's opponent joked as he turned over {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. That was way behind the {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} of Madsen.

Fielder Busts A Short Stack

A short stack player open shoved in early position for 12,300 total, and Jeff Fielder was next to act. Once he got the count, he assembled the chips, and tossed in the call. Everyone else folded, and the cards were tabled.

Fielder: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

Both players got a piece of the flop, as it came out {7-Clubs}{a-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Fielder would need to pair up again to win the hand, and he would do that on the turn, the {j-Hearts}. Fielder faded the river, as it came the {2-Clubs}, and he collected the bounty, upping his stack to over 150,000.

Madsen Three-Bet Ships The Flop

We picked up the action on a flop of {10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}. The player in the small blind position, Clayton Holloway, had checked to Jeff Madsen and he fired 7,100 from middle position. Holloway reraised to 15,500 to which Madsen responded with an all-in announcement. Madsen had Holloway covered.

Holloway seemed frustrated that he was put a decision for his tournament life, throwing his hands up in confusion. With about 50,000 behind it became a very important decision, one that he decided was best finished with a fold.
