Miguel Hernandez Eliminated in 23rd Place ($11,748)

While we were catching Roy Upshaw's elimination hand, we heard "all in and a call" from Table 12.

We rushed over to see that Miguel Hernandez was all in and at risk against Reginald Roberts on a flop of {10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

Hernandez: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Roberts: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Roberts held as the turn and river came {2-Clubs}, {a-Hearts} respectively, and won the 1.2 million-chip pot. Hernandez was eliminated in 23rd place.

Roy Upshaw Eliminated in 24th Place ($11,748)

Roy Upshaw has been grinding a short stack for quite some time now. Before the redraw, he was all in from the small blind with just 5,000 chips, and chopped with {3-}{2-} against the big blind's {4-}{2-}.

On his final hand, Doug Ashmore opened in early position, and Upshaw called all in for 16,000. The rest of the players folded.

Ashmore: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Upshaw: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

"I'll chop right now," Upshaw offered, grinning.

The board ran out {4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, and Upshaw was eliminated.

Ashmore now has 990,000 chips.

Will Carrion Eliminated in 25th Place ($9,986)

Will Carrion has been nursing a short stack for a long time, but his time just ran out courtesy of Jon Wood.

It happened when Carrion moved all in from the hijack for 43,000 with {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Jon Wood three-bet from the small blind to isolate. It worked as the big blind folded and Wood tabled {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

Carrion seemed optimistic about having an over, but he watched his dreams of winning the 2012/2013 WSOP Circuit Choctaw Durant Main Event slip away as the board ran out {4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}.

"Cowboy" John Land Eliminated in 26th Place ($9,986)

"Cowboy" John Land - 26th Place
"Cowboy" John Land - 26th Place

After Minnesota's Matt Kirby raised to 50,000 under the gun, "Cowboy" John Land moved all in for 370,000 right behind. Action folded back to Kirby and he thought for about 40 seconds before making the call.

Land: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Kirby: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

Like we've seen so many times today, it was a flip. The {J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{K-Clubs} flop was kind to Kirby as it gave him a set, but Land did pick up a gutshot straight draw to a ten. The {3-Clubs} turn actually gave Land more outs to a club flush, but the {8-Spades} river would miss all his draw. Land, who finished Day 1a second in chips, was eliminated in 26th place.

"Sick call, bro," Jeff Fielder compliment Kirby. "Sick call."

Rex Clinkscales Eliminated in 27th Place ($9,986)

Rex Clinkscales was all in and at risk with what looked like {q-}{j-} on a flop of {7-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}. Dale Roesel had him in bad shape with {k-Hearts}{7-Spades}, and held as the turn and river came {6-Clubs}, {5-Spades} respectively.

Clinkscales added more points to his lead on the National Leaderboard, and will walk away with just under $10,000.

Caudill Out in 28th Place; Drazen Up Over 2 Million

Drazen Ilich on Day 1a.
Drazen Ilich on Day 1a.

We're not sure of the preflop action, but we do know Eugene Caudill found himself all in preflop holding {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and was racing against the {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} of Drazen Ilich.

The {7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{A-Spades} flop was kind to Caudill as it gave him the lead with a pair of aces, but Ilich has been running hot as evidenced by the running {8-Clubs} turn and {J-Spades} river, which gave him a winning straight.

With that, Ilich is up over 2 million, Caudill exits in 28th place, and we're down to 27, which means it's time for a redraw.

Ilich vs. Kirby

Action folded to Drazen Ilich in the cutoff and he raised to 45,000, which Matt Kirby called from the button. The latter then called a bet of 52,000 on the {K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, both players checked the {8-Diamonds} turn, and the {9-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Ilich led out for 115,000, and Kirby snap-called only to muck when Ilich rolled over {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}.

Huge Double for Hale

Brant Hale opened to 55,000 from the hijack seat, Dale Roesel three-bet to 115,000 from the button, Hale four-bet shoved for 670,000, and Roesel called.

Roesel: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Hale: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The tens held as the board ran out {4-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, and Hale doubled to 1.37 million chips.

Roesel slipped to 1.15 million.
