Up and Down For Turbo

Poker can be a game full of roller coasters, and that was no better on display then in a hand that we just saw Phong "Turbo" Nguyen in.

The player under the gun open shoved all in for his last 15,400, and it folded around to Nguyen on the button. He announced, call, and the blinds got out of the way.

Nguyen: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

"A fair fight," said Nguyen, correctly pointing out that they were in a 50-50 race. Well Nguyen shot out in front when the flop came down {j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Nguyen would just need to fade two outs now, but that didn't happen, as the {9-Diamonds} came on the turn. Nguyen could still pair up again to get a full house, but the {q-Clubs} didn't do that.

Despite that hit, it's been a good few levels for Nguyen, as he is still sitting on 65,000.

Quads Twice In A Row!

Here's something you don't see everyday. Or hardly ever in a lifetime for that matter. We came to the table to see that Peter Mavro and Shawn Daniels were heads up on a completed board of {8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Clubs}. There was about 13,000 in the middle, and Mavro assembled a big bet of 12,500, and threw it in. Daniels didn't take long to pay him off.

"I have quads again," Mavro said. Daniels had a dumbfounded look on his face, and could only say "ok" as he mucked his cards. After the hand, we were informed that on the hand just before that, Mavro busted Mike Souza with quad queens, meaning he got quads on back-to-back hands!

We struggled to find a concrete answers on what the odds are of that happening, but it sounds like it's in the area of 365,000 to 1 that it happens. Well we just saw it so it is possible!

Big Slick Lands Lindley A Pot

We caught up with Christina Lindley heads up against her opponent on a {6-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{a-Spades} board. Lindley fired out 5,000, and her opponent quickly called her. The river brought the {10-Clubs}, and after shuffling her chips for about 30 seconds, she checked. Her opponent quickly checked behind, and Lindley tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for top pair top kicker. Her opponent flashed {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for an inferior hand, and the pot was sent over to Lindley.

After that pot, she is now up to 41,000.

Clinkscales Gets Cut Down

Well a solid contender for name of the tournament has just been eliminated shortly after the dinner break. Rex Clinkscales had about 45,000 coming back from the dinner break, but that stack quickly evaporated in the 20 minutes since we've come back. We caught the end of the hand that did most the damage.

The board read {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, and with about 18,000 already in the middle, Clinkscales fired out 15,500. This sent his opponent deep into the tank, and after about two minutes, he made the call. Clinkscales mucked his hand, and his opponent tabled {9-Spades}{5-Spades} for trip fives.

"I was worried he flopped a set of sixes," his opponent said as he pulled in the chips. Clinkscales was eliminated shortly after.

Singontiko Soars After Dinner

Young David Singontiko knows plenty about going deep in big events. Last summer, he won his very first WSOP bracelet event for a shade under $270,000, and he also has a Circuit Main event final table under his belt, when he finished 4th at the Bicycle Casino in January. Well he's been steadily chipping up all day, and we just caught him taking down a big pot, while also knocking out a player.

We caught up with the pair in action on the turn, with the board reading {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Singontiko was facing a bet of 5,500, and he responded by raising to 16,000. His opponent quickly assembled his stack into a tower, and slid it into the middle, and Singontiko snap called.

Singontiko: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Singontiko just had to fade a king, and he did that, as the river was the {3-Hearts}. After that pot, Singontiko is one of our leaders, with 85,000.
