Gimbel Picks One Up

After one player checked the {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop, Harrison Gimbel bet 300. The third player in the hand called behind Gimbel, then the first player called as well.

On the turn, the {6-Clubs} paired the board. The first player checked, Gimbel bet 1,250, and both of his opponents folded.

Smith Can't Bust Kessler Just Yet

It was mentioned earlier that Gavin Smith was ready to bust Allen Kessler, and he might have just had a chance, but it didn't go his way.

Smith and one other player checked the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop before Kessler bet 1,000. Smith check-raised to 2,400, and the player in the middle folded. Kessler called.

The turn was the {9-Clubs}, and Smith fired 3,100. Kessler called to see the {7-Hearts} land on the river. Smith checked, and Kessler bet 5,000. Smith gave a disgusted look back at his cards, then folded, and Kessler won the pot.

Musumeci Takes a Hit

Amanda Musumeci, who finished eighth in this year's World Series of Poker National Championship ($48,576), was in a three-handed pot with the board reading {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. The action checked to Musumeci, who tossed out 700, and only one player called.

The turn was the {3-Spades}, and Musumeci led out for 1,300. Her opponent quickly called.

The {2-Clubs} completed the board, and Musumeci tossed out a singly yellow T1,000 chip. Her opponent tanked for a bit before making the call, and Musumeci turned over {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a pair of nines.

Her opponent flipped over {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, and took down the pot.

Leah Flying Early

Mike Leah has gotten himself off to a flying start here in Hammond, Indiana as he's already up to 70,000 in chips. That's three and a half times the starting stack and quite the impressive beginning to his tournament.

The Canadian professional is currently tied for second on the Hammond tournament leader board with 57.5 points. He shares that spot with Gary Lindesmith, while Ari Engel holds the lead with 65 points thanks to winning an event last night. Leah has cashed twice here in Hammond this trip, and both times made the final table. He took third in the $365 Pot-Limit Omaha — Rebuy event for $16,923 and then fourth in the $365 No-Limit Hold'em event for $14,837.
