Kuether Folds Jacks

After a raise from a player in early position to 1,100, Joe Kuether reraised to 2,700 from middle position. Play folded over to the small blind, and that player took a minute before making the call. The original raiser also called.

The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, and action checked to Kuether. He bet 4,200. The small blind check-raised to 9,100, and the next player folded. Kuether took some time, but then flipped up the {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} as he folded his hand to show that he was laying down two jacks. His opponent didn't show.

A Couple of Big Stacks

Richard Decowski, a World War II veteran in his nineties, is currently one of the chip leaders here in the Main Event. A native of Chicago, Decowkski earned his entry into the tournament grinding $1-$2 no limit hold'em.

With the Chicago Bears playing a big game on Monday Night Football this week, we asked Decowski if he was a fan.

"No," he answered quickly. "I hate them."

The table burst into laughter.

We'll keep our eyes on the veteran as he battles this tough field.

Julius Wins One, Julius Loses One

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Ryan Julius and an opponent were heads up with the board reading {5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Spades}. Both players checked, and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board. Julius' opponent checked, Julius tossed out an orange T5,000 chip, and his opponent called.

"Queen," Julius announced, tabling {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

His opponent mucked, and Julius raked in the pot.

The next hand, Joe Elpayaa opened in late position, Julius three-bet to 2,200 on his direct left, and Elpayaa called. The flop came {10-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, and both players checked. The turn was the {3-Spades}, Julius called a 3,200-chip bet from Elpayaa, and the river was the {j-Clubs}.

Elpayaa led again - this time for 4,400 - and Julius released.

Jivkov Eliminated from Multi-Tabling

Normally, live multi-tabling is only seen at the World Series of Poker in the summertime out in Las Vegas, but there has been an occurrence of it today in Hammond. Nick Jivkov, winner of WSOP Event 5: $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em and former final tablist from this event in 2010, is playing the Main Event here today along with the $365 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo event. In the latter of those two, he's down to the final three players, which includes Chad Brown.

On break from that final table, Jivkov decided not to go to the bathroom, but rather to head over to his Main Event seat, albeit after some help from the floor staff locating his new seat because his original table broke. He promptly got involved in a hand, which turned out to be his last.

After an under-tune-gun raise from Dale Robinson to 1,025, action folded to Jivkov in the cutoff seat. He reraised and made it 2,500 to go. Play folded back to Robinson, and he re-popped things to 6,000. Jivkov moved all in for a little over 20,000, and Robinson called.

"What you got?" asked Jivkov before seeing Robinson table the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. "Two kings?" he continued with a shake of his head as he saw the hand. Jivkov then showed the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} for a dominated hand.

The flop, turn and river ran out {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, and Jivkov was eliminated.

"Just couldn't keep the dream alive," commented a departing Jivkov, who was able to catch the last few minutes of his break from the other event's final table before getting back into action. And lucky for him, Jivkov has the opportunity to continue the dream tomorrow as the Main Event boasts a re-entry format.

Pahuja Gets Aggressive

Owais Ahmed opened to 850 from the hijack seat, a player called in the cutoff, and Mukul Pahuja three-bet to 2,600 on the button. Both blinds released, Ahmed followed suit, and the player in the cutoff called.

The flop came {3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and the player in the cutoff led out for 4,000. Pahuja raised to 10,600, and his opponent folded.

Pahuja raked in the pot, and is now flirting with 70,000 chips.
