Verrett Picks One Up

From early position, Eddie Ochana raised to 6,500. Steve Verrett called from middle position, and Owais Ahmed called from the big blind. Then, the dealer spread the {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop, and action was checked by Ahmed. Ochana bet 9,500, but Verrett raised to 22,000. Ahmed folded, as did Ochana, and Verrett won the pot.

Battle of Big Stacks

Both Phillip Liou and Jeff Fielder entered today among the chip leaders. Fielder has maintained his big stack, while Liou has struggled.

In a recent hand, the two were heads up on a board of {k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Liou led out for 10,000, and Fielder called. Both players checked on the turn ({7-Clubs}), and the river ({2-Diamonds}), and Fielder took the pot down with {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

Davison Busts Lai

From under the gun, Mike Leah raised to 6,000. Action folded to Long Lai in middle position, and he reraised to 16,000. After play folded to Rita Davison in the small blind, she reraised to 31,500. Leah folded, then Lai moved all in for around 60,000. Davison quickly called with the {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} to have Lai's {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} beat.

The flop gave Davison a set of aces when the {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} fell. From there, the {10-Hearts} on the turn and {4-Hearts} on the river secured her the victory to bust Lai from the tournament.
